Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Muzsikas (Hungarian song) From: mooman Date: 11 Nov 05 - 05:16 PM Quick on the draw Joe! When I saw Cyparissa's request I was sure it was Szerelem, Szerelem. I have most of Marta Sebestyen's and Musikas' CD and, from memory (as I am not near my vinyl collection at present), I think it is on "Blues for Transylvania" (possibly others too including the soundtrack album). I quite agree Joe as a occasional visitor to Budapest for work. Musikas are astonishingly good live if you get the chance to see them and they LOVE to play. Peace moo |

Subject: ADD: Szerelem, szerelem (Hungarian song) From: Joe Offer Date: 11 Nov 05 - 01:35 PM Here's another "love, love" song, from here (click) a Website with lyrics from a number of Balkan countries. -Joe Offer- Somogy Karikazo [Hungary] Eva szívem éva, most érik a szilva, Teritve az alja felszedjük hajnalra. Bárcsak ez a hajnal sokáig tartana, Hogy a szerelemnek vége ne szakadna. Szerelem, szerelem, átkozott gyötrelem, Mért mem termettél volt minden falevélen. Azért jöttem ide karikázni, Na a babám itt találna lenni, Keze lába ki talána törni, Nékem köllne arrol számot adni. Mit ér annak a legénynek élete, Kinek mindig nadrágzsebben a keze, Nem meri a lányokat megölelni, Mert azt hiszi hogy a fene megeszi. Piros alma bele-esett a sarba, Bele-esett a saros pocsolyaba, Piros almat kiveszem es megmosom, A babamat szazsor is megcsokolom, Piros almat kiveszem es megmosom, A babamat szazsor is megcsokolom. Translation Eva, my heart, Eva, the plum tree is now ripe, Underneath are spread plums, we will pick them up by dawn. If only this dawn, would last a long time, So that our love, would never end! Love, love, cursed suffering! Why didn't you grow, on every leaf? I came here to do the karikazo, Should my sweetheart be here and, Should his arms and legs break by any chance? I would be the one responsible. What is the worth of a fellow's life? Who always keeps his hands in his pockets? He is afraid to embrace the girls, Because he thinks the pox will take him. A red apple fell into the mud, Fell into the muddy puddle, I'll take out the red apple and wash it, And kiss my sweetheart a hundred times. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Muzsikas (Hungarian song) From: Joe Offer Date: 11 Nov 05 - 12:31 PM No luck yet, but a Google search for Muzsikas brings up some interesting stuff. This page (click) looks particularly interesting (not that it's about the song called "muzsikas"). This page is interesting, too. I think maybe you're worng about the title of the song, though. From Moviemusic.com, I gather that the song is "Szerelem, Szerelem" performed by Muzsikas/Marta Sebestyen. I think I'm going to have to pick up a CD by Marta Sebesteyen.
Subject: Lyr Req: Muzsikas From: Cyparissa Date: 11 Nov 05 - 08:23 AM Does anyone have the English translation to the Hungarian folksong 'Muzsikas?' I've been trying to find it for years, with absolutely no success. The version I have is from the 'English Patient' soundtrack, and I've always thought it was a brilliant folksong. Any help with a translation is greatly appreciated. |
