Subject: Lyr Req: Sleepers Awake Incredible String Band From: Joybell Date: 11 Nov 05 - 06:07 PM I'm seeking the words to "Sleepers Awake". It's an "Incedible String Band" song from about 35 years ago. Its title comes up on several of the band's sites but the lyrics don't seem to be available anywhere. Don't know if the melody comes from the Bach piece of the same name but I know the melody for the song I want. Here's what I know: Sleepers awake for the night has gone and taken Your (?)gravest fears and left us here Awake for the dawn (?morn)is wonderful That's all I have. Tantalizing isn't it? Can anyone help please? Thanks. Cheers, Joy |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sleepers Awake Incredible String Band From: Helen Date: 11 Nov 05 - 07:37 PM Hi Joybell, You could try contacting Robin williamson. I know he is still performing. he plays Celtic Harp, so if you can't google and address/contact info for him I should be able to ask the Harplist for info. I don't have the ISB album with Sleepers Awake on it, but I have a couple of others. (I'm useless at deciphering lyrics anyway, so I wouldn't be much help even if I did have the album.) Helen |
Subject: Lyr Add: SLEEPERS AWAKE (Incredible String Band) From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 11 Nov 05 - 10:37 PM It would be much like this: Sleepers awaken; the night has gone, and taken Your darkest fears, and left you here: And the sun it shines so clear, And the sun it shines so clear; Oh awake, for the world looks wonderful. Oh glorious golden Sun: your song of light you'll bring; And when we turn away, your silver sister Moon doth sing. Then once again we face your glory and your grace And those whom sleep still takes, Ta ra ra ra ra ta ta ta Tell the little birds to wake. Ta ra ra ra ra ta ta ta; Tell the little birds to wake. Ta ra ra ra ra ta ta ta. Sleepers awaken; the night has gone, and taken Your darkest fears, and left you here: And the sun it shines so clear, And the sun it shines so clear; Oh awake, for the world looks wonderful. You send your beams to earth, giving clouds their birth; And looking to the sky, they see your diamond eye Livening sap and cell. They love you very well; And, answering the first light's ring, Ta ra ra ra ra ta ta ta Push their petals back and sing. Ta ra ra ra ra ta ta ta Push their petals back and sing; Ta ra ra ra ra ta ta ta. Sleepers awaken; the night has gone, and taken Your darkest fears, and left you here: And the sun it shines so clear, And the sun it shines so clear; Oh awake, for the world looks wonderful.
