If you added Si Grant, you'd have almost the entire BBC folk music scene of 196x. Aren't we so much better off now!

Wasn't he Cy Grant?

Remarkably, Leon Rosselson is still going very strong indeed. He continues to write the most powerful songs and gets out gigging although he must be close to 70. Doesn't look or sound it.

Leon Rosselson is one of my favourite songwriters, he did an album called A Laugh a Song and a Hand Grenade [I think] which was one of the most powerful song sets I ever heard.

This and this will fill in a bit of background for those who are interested in Leon's credits which are many, and richly deserved.

LR made 'A Laugh a Song and a Hand Grenade' with poet Adrian Mitchell. After The Galliard, he formed the 3 City 4 with Roy Bailey, Marian McKenzie and Martin Carthy, but Roy Trainer replaced MC quite quickly as his solo career took off. MC has quite a few of Leon's songs in his repertoire.

When Leon Rosselson wrote "Do You Remember" he was about 25. How did he know exactly how I was going to feel when I was 50?

And yes, it was Cy Grant, and still is. **daylia** would LOVE him!
What a bloke eh?

A bit pedantic I know but it was Shirley BLAND and Jimmie (ie) and it was The Galliards (plural)

OK I'll get out more.

I thought Shirley and Jimmy were married at that time, and I did write Galliards but ran out of space [Thanks clone]
