Subject: Classical Mandolin Society of America From: GUEST,Rex on the road Date: 22 Nov 05 - 08:26 AM I'm surprised to not see anything about this event. The Classical Mandolin Society of America had their annual convention in Denver last week. 2005 Convention Information They were hosted by my friends in the Denver Mandolin Orchestra. Well this classical stuff is a little high falutin' for this child, that long-hair stuff, but I tucked my mandolin under my arm and went out for the fun. There were many groups performing from around the country and Canada. There were workshops on classical mandolin. But also jazz, even bluegrass. Saturday evening there was a concert by the CMSA En Masse Orchestra which was made up of 125 performers with a conductor. I've never seen such sight and don't know when I will again. It was a fine time, so many mandos and players. And the best thing was the jams that were happening throughout the day. I didn't leave Saturday until 2:30AM. The convention will be held next year in Louisville, Kentucky. Check them out, Adios, Rex |
