Subject: RE: regular sessions at some scottish areas? From: John MacKenzie Date: 26 Nov 05 - 08:14 AM This lists a lot of Scottish events and clubs. I don't know how up to date it is. You may have more luck with the local papers when you arrive there. Giok |

Subject: RE: regular sessions at some scottish areas? From: GUEST Date: 26 Nov 05 - 09:45 AM There's also a useful source of info on the Footstompin' website in the "Guides" section. |
Subject: RE: regular sessions at some scottish areas? From: GUEST,Jack Campin Date: 27 Nov 05 - 07:43 PM The musicinscotland list is concerts only, no sessions. I'd suggest asking on the forum at www.footstompin.com. |
Subject: RE: regular sessions at some scottish areas? From: Scabby Douglas Date: 28 Nov 05 - 09:26 AM Dunoon: I believe there are Sunday afternoon sessions in the Lorne Bar on Argyll Street. Not sure about elsewhere in Argyll - possibly things in Tarbet, or Campbeltown, though... |
Subject: RE: regular sessions at some scottish areas? From: GUEST,HughM Date: 28 Nov 05 - 03:36 PM I can't help with Kintyre or Cowal, but when I was on Arran earlier this year there were four sessions a week there. I went to one at Kildonan and one at Whiting Bay, on Monday and Thursday I think it was. At Kildonan the session was led by two people using amplification (but not too much). They encouraged me to join in from the floor with my concertina, and stopped from time to time for other floor singers. My wife, who is not very "folky", really enjoyed it. The Whiting Bay session was more conventional. See www.arranfolkclub.co.uk |
