Well...........Actually Steve and Robin, "Green Pastures" is on one of my favorite albums (although I no longer have a copy), Roses in the Snow. Willie is indeed on the track playing guitar, but the duet vocal is Ricky Skaggs and the harmony is Dolly Parton! Bryan Bowers also plays autoharp on that cut.

Does anyone have the lyrics to "Where the roses never fade" by Linda Sutton. I've searched everywhere and can't find it. I've seen the old version, but I'm looking for her version to sing at a funeral. It's an old recording. Maybe late 80's early 90's.

Funeral songs, well, I can be very "pop" oriented sometimes but the Garth Brooks song, "The Dance," has always worked for me; also, there is a christian/pop singer/songwriter by the name of Bob Bennet
who wrote a nice song called - "The Place I Am Bound," and I like it a lot too. It is a kind of up-tempo Celtic influenced view of his wake from the viewpoint of he who died - lamenting the fact that he is not there to share in the festivities, food, tales, drink, etc.

Finally, if it can be done, find out what song(s) the deceased liked,
and/or what songs the deceased wanted to be played at their funeral and go with that flow. Good Luck. Cheers.

the last time I sang for a funeral I sang Malvina Reynolds' "From Way Up Here"

It really depends on the person the funeral is about.

I've sung "Solidarity Forever" for union activists -

"I'll Fly Away" for a pilot -

"Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream" for peace activists -

"16 Tons" for a friend who never did get out of debt before he died.

Of course, this depends on where you are singing. Some churches, temples, etc. are more lenient than others. Some only want you to sing from their official hymn books. I like to hear something that is really about the person being celebrated and mourned.

Song on the CD is "Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep" - this is the funeral poem written in 1932 by Mary Elizabeth Frye, put to a lovely tune by the band Angel Wings.
