Rosa Parks (b.Feb 4, 1913, d.10/24/2005) was arrested on a Montgomery, Alabama bus on 12/1/1955. But she overcame that quite well, I think. (The bus boycott began 12/5 & lasted 1 year. On appeal of her conviction & $14 fine, the US Supreme Court ended bus segregation 12/20/1956)

Happily, I've never had to sit at the back of the bus or anything similar. But I did have the pleasure (and it was a pleasure for me) of teaching math at a "separate-but-equal" high school for most of a year. It's an even greater pleasure in its way, that I meet so many people today who have no idea what "separate-but-equal" schools were.

Hi, Bob - the Happy! happy? Happy! Index says this series of Happy! ended April 15, 2006 - but I thought it would be "refreshing" to see it again, at least once in a while.

very timely, as I just finished translating an article about Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Improvement Association because I work in an Irish-language medium school. The article was in English and the subject matter is on the GCSE history curriculum.
