Check out Graham Moore's fine song 'Tom Paine's Bones' and his album with that as the title song. Moore is also the author of 'Tolpuddle Man' and 'Captain Swing'.

In 1792 Tom Paine (1737-1809) published in England The Rights of Man, in defence of the French Revolution.
He was outlawed in absentia on 12/2/1792 and punished in effigy throughout England.
         Tom Paine is a Rebel, his Followers worse,
        The best of them all, would purloin a Man's Purse.
        For what can you think to their leveling Plan,
        They'd take the Purse first, and then hang up the Man.

                GOD save GEORGE our KING,
                Tom Paine, let him swing;
                Let us for ever sing--down with Tom Paine.

                        "Down with Tom Paine," (a broadside) in
                        A Ballad History of England, Roy Palmer
