Or possible something like that. I have someone singing it with a Scotish accent. Not easy to note down. Anybody got the words?

You got anything else to go on here, Fidjit?

Just looked at the track. It's DEF Shepherd, Synergy
track 5 Pawkie Patterson.
Think they're a Cape Breton group. Can't find a website.

Lines like, "I'm Pawkie Paterson from New York"

Something about giving away his boots
"If he pushes his feet right in them, They'll come up to his knee"
"I'm Pawkie Patterson from New York - - - " etc.

"Pawkie Paiterson" was recorded by Scottish group "Deaf Shepherd". It's a song from the Scottish borders, around Hawick, as far as I know, and very much in the local dialect of that area. The singer was John Morran, one of our best kept secrets. He deserves to be much better known. New York don't come into it, but he'll be amused to hear that when I see him next week.

The line was "Ah'm Pawkie Paiterson's auld grey yowd", I think. The song is being sung by a horse, which makes it unique in Scottish traditional music, again, as far as I know.

More about Deaf Shepherd here, tho' they've had some changes in line-up over the years. NOT from Cape Breton - all as Kenny said! Great SCOTTISH band!

Click on "Synergy" for more details of the track listing on that CD.

P.S. Worth looking again at the previous thread in which the lyrics are posted, as given in Jim Dixon's link above: some good background info to the origins of the song from Nynia there.
