Subject: RE: Bull, Barton, Beds - December 05 things From: Ross Date: 07 Dec 05 - 09:08 AM Ahhhh, this be the countryside where strange things lurk and the comprehensions of town folk cannot be enjoyed It's a bit like mixing your metaphors with anagrams Has anyone seen Martin back from Jordan? - or is he, her hostage |
Subject: RE: Bull, Barton, Beds - December 05 things From: GUEST Date: 07 Dec 05 - 09:37 AM Well Ross this be the countryside too, so I should have understood. I know about the Fulham WI (that was aimed at Mr Breeze) because I read it in the newspaper - we had one delivered this year. |

Subject: RE: Bull, Barton, Beds - December 05 things From: GUEST,The PA Date: 08 Dec 05 - 10:45 AM Helping out old, poor people. Well Ross I really don't know, you see you start off helping them across the road and before long its putting them on the toilet, popping to the Post Office for their pension and fetching prescriptions, not to mention having them round for Sunday lunch. Best steering clear of that I think, but surely you're not so old, after all you've obviously still got full use of your hands, or is your daily help tapping the keys for you! (What does Mr Breeze doubt? 'bout time he got a full time job) |

Subject: RE: Bull, Barton, Beds - December 05 things From: Ross Date: 12 Dec 05 - 03:48 AM Blimey - I'm sat in an office in Redbourn boldly quantity surveying with flames all around me - Hemel Hempstead oil depot only up the road We can see the fire flickering on the horizon - very heart warming - luckily, the smoke is trailing off eastwards I have just had a very nice weekend - I went to see the adult panto in Hitchin - Slapper Beauty - all done in the best possible taste Barton was nice and sunny - the Chilterns got in the way of the smoke It's a folk session in Barton thhis week And there is also a big music session at the Fox in Pirton the same night |
Subject: RE: Bull, Barton, Beds - December 05 things From: breezy Date: 12 Dec 05 - 04:52 AM Morning Ross, shouldnt that be 'down the road' ? Living north of an oil depot has its advantages, blue skies. From my vantage point I think the cloud is heading southerly, it went east yesterday and sent Woodford Green into dusk at mid day on the rugby field Bricket Wood has been let off relatively lightly All schools in the area of H H and Snorbs are closd so I have 3 boys and the missus in doors. A 3 day week end. Got any pictures? |
Subject: RE: Bull, Barton, Beds - December 05 things From: Ross Date: 12 Dec 05 - 05:55 AM Hi John - it probably is down but I try and talk everything up No smoke in Redbourn, although you can see the flames - we are north west of the site - lots of minor damage in the village - loft hatches blowing, seem to have caused chaos as all the dirt from the roof spaces has got into houses No pictures - I can't compete with the images on the tele with their helicopters etc Enjoy your day - why not have an indoor bbq Bedford Folk Club is currently homeless - any assistance welcome by Mike Blair at the Ampthill Bedroom Acoustic Music Shop |

Subject: RE: Bull, Barton, Beds - December 05 things From: Hamish Date: 12 Dec 05 - 09:10 AM Yeah - what a palaver. I felt like a commando-cum-refugee fleeing Berko last night, and what with the M1 closed and a prang on the A41 diverting northbound traffic through the town it was chaos. I came back past Woodhall Farm just north of Buncefield at midnight and the cauliflowers of flame were spectacular. But the gig at The Swan was terrific: lovely little country pub and a very nice room. A small but perfectly formed audience for my set. Highly recommended. I'll let you know if/when I get a repeat gig. (That is if Ross doesn't mind my hi-jacking!?!?) -- Hamish |

Subject: RE: Bull, Barton, Beds - December 05 things From: Ross Date: 20 Dec 05 - 08:11 AM Ahhhh, poor John - he's done so much for care in the community Luton v Watford - 2nd January - Buncefield explodes Here's a joke nicked off the internet: Not long ago and far away, Santa was getting ready for his annual trip...but there were problems everywhere. Four of his elves got sick, and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones so Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule. Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her mom was coming to visit. This stressed Santa even more. When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where. More Stress. Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the boards cracked and the toy bag fell to the ground and scattered the toys. Totally frustrated, Santa went into the house for a cup of coffee and a shot of whisky. When he went to the cupboard, he found the elves had hit the bottle and there was nothing to drink. In his frustration, he dropped the coffee pot and it broke into hundreds of little pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found that mice had eaten the straw it was made from. Just then the door bell rang and Santa cussed on his way to the door. He opened the door and there was a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said: "Where would you like to put this tree fat man?" And that my friend, is how the little angel came to be on top of the tree. |

Subject: RE: Bull, Barton, Beds - December 05 things From: stevi Date: 20 Dec 05 - 01:21 PM  Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by  Saint Peter at the pearly gates.  In honor of this holy season," Saint Peter said,  "you must each possess  something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven." The first man  fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on.  It represents a candle, he said. You may pass  through the pearly gates  Saint Peter said. The second man reached into his  pocket and pulled out  a set of keys. He shook them and said, "They're  bells" . Saint Peter  said you may pass through the pearly gates. The  third man started  searching desperately through his pockets and  finally pulled out a pair  of women's panties. St. Peter looked at the man  with a raised eyebrow  and asked, "And just what do those symbolize?"  The man replied............. a carol!!!!! |
