On BBC Radio 2 tonight, the Mike Harding Show will feature all of the songs from the Beatles Album Rubber Soul performed by all sorts of people. These include Ralph McTell singing Michelle, June Tabor with In My Life and Waterson Carthy's version of Norwegian Wood. Must be worth a listen.

On Late Junction on R3 later on at 22.20 will be Christmas Champions, a commissioned feature on Mummers' Plays from Chris Wood & Hugh Lupton which, using field recording, narrative poetry and song, will exolore this mystic tradition.

I would prefer to find a thread telling us that Mike Harding was going to use his show to play some British Folk Music.
Let's face it - he only ever plays American people unless they are a young woman.
If he wants to do a show of Beatles songs, it ought to be in a separate one-off slot of its own.

Yes, the Beatles parody prog should be interesting, More importantly is the later prog on BBC Radio 3 starting at 2220 (UK Time) featuring this new project by Chris Wood and Hugh Lupton.
Chris was telling me about it a few weeks ago, and this is one thing I definitely won't miss tonight!

PS...Both progs will be on the BBC site "Listen again" facility for the next week.

Heard the SOH contribution at Sheffield last Saturday - good stuff. Calling the CD "Rubber Folk" does lead to all sorts of strange thoughts though!.

Well I thought most of it was utterly underewhelming!   Well actually most of it wasn't that good - utter tripe more like. Spent most of the hour trying to learn MaDe Schottische so it wasn't a complete waste of time. I did like Run For Your Life though (it's my favourite track of the original LP)

Exactly the word I just used Over There @ the beeb, having struggled through last night's broadcast on the replayer. Some of it (Dillon/While/Hewardine & Reader/and - sad to say - W:C) was cringingly awful. Tams/Tabor/S&B were best, though I really wish I hadn't bothered. The recording quality sounded muffled and SoH seemed considerably out-of-tune at points.

OTOH, as Guest above remarks, the LJ broadcast later was stunningly good.

so did harding manage to get through the entire show without talking
over the intros & outros of any of the specially recorded performances this time ??????????
