Subject: RE: Live music in Sydney, Australia From: JennyO Date: 08 Dec 05 - 11:16 AM Hi Bill the Collie! Don't be surprised if the response you get is a bit slow - most of us are in bed asleep, except for a few hardened individuals like me, and even I am about to go off for the night. It's an awkward time you are going to be here. I'll check what there is tomorrow, but it is over Christmas and most of the folk clubs won't be open. Many people will be away at festivals over the New Year too. However, all is not lost. If you are actually still here on the 7th, I happen to be having a BBQ/session for my folk club on that date. It is going to be at my place in Earlwood, which is easy to get to by bus. Hope you can make it. More tomorrow. Jenny |

Subject: RE: Live music in Sydney, Australia From: JennyO Date: 09 Dec 05 - 10:13 AM Hi Earlwood survivor Charlie :-) Yes, we had a bit of weather when Charlie, Judy and Brett were here a couple of years ago - but that was in November, and I've noticed since then, that we get days like that every November. It just seems to be an unstable time of year, for some reason. This, on the other hand, will be high summer, and although we can sometimes finish up with late thunderstorms at the end of a hot day, the main prevailing weather is hot hot hot - bring your hat and sunscreen! PS, thanks for the info, Gerry. I just hadn't had time to look it up. BTW, the Jenny in the Sutherland info is not me. |

Subject: RE: Live music in Sydney, Australia From: GUEST,Bill the Collie Date: 12 Dec 05 - 02:34 AM Thanks one and all. We haven't worked out our itinerary yet but all your suggestions really really helpful and friendly. "Where the brumbies come to water..." - where is that, again? |

Subject: RE: Live music in Sydney, Australia From: GUEST,Bill the Collie Date: 13 Dec 05 - 10:48 AM Thanks again; if we're able to get to Earlwood on the 7th, where to go from there? |

Subject: RE: Live music in Sydney, Australia From: JennyO Date: 13 Dec 05 - 10:59 AM Is the 7th your last day in Sydney? I assume you will then be flying out of Sydney. Will that be on the 8th? Earlwood is not far from the airport. If you wanted to stay overnight and fly out on the 8th, and if you didn't mind a mattress on the floor, you could do that and we could take you to the airport the next day. Jenny |

Subject: RE: Live music in Sydney, Australia From: GUEST,Bill the Collie Date: 18 Dec 05 - 05:48 AM Jenny I am getting closer to sorting out an itinerary, But unfortunately, 7 Jan seems now to be the only date we can go to Adelaide. So, Jenny, many many thanks for your kind invitation but it looks like we won't be able to accept. Have a great BBQ and a jolly christmas. Bill |

Subject: RE: Live music in Sydney, Australia From: Bob Bolton Date: 29 Dec 05 - 05:42 AM G'day Bill, ... Oh ... You noticed! Oddly enough, tonight, over dinner, the idea of a holiday in Tasmania came up.(\Well, Hobart is 1000 kilometres south of Sydney ... and has the Southern Ocean, rather than 3000 km of desert, straight up weather. My wife, Patricia, is Tasmanian, and we like to retreat south from the worst of Sydney's summers! Regards, Bob |
