Predictions?

I'd like to see the Steelers go far and the Colts loose.

And if you don't like the sport create a new thread called "blow it out your ass", And leave us to discuss what we like!

BTW.... did you like that cover of Brady on SI in contrast with his ONCE IN A LIFETIME spat with the refs when he got called for "blocking back" on Sunday. Fucking hilarious!!!! The one time that he wasn't a sportsman! I nearly busted a gut! Timing is everything. (Oh... he did block straight up... bad call.)

"Blow it out your ass": Just wondering if--just wondering mind you--if it would be acceptable to do a conversion by having the ball balanced on . . . naw, guess not. But if the game was won by a single point, AND the conversion was accomplished in that manner, wow, huh? Wouldn't that be a finish?

The Colts are the real deal. The only question is whether it will be an undefeated season or simply a Super Bowl Championship. The NFC is playing for second place.

I e-mailed SI about it so I guess I find out later!

I hopeing my team, 49ers come in last again to draft Reggie Bush. He played with Alex Smith and by the time Smith Matures we'll be great again!

I wouldn't hate the colts so much but you know Payton had some say in Eli's snubbing of the Chargers last year and I hate that kind of primadonna bullshit!

Who's your team?

My team? Hmmm, should I say this out loud? OK, I'll admit it, I'm an Eagles fan. Have been since I was little. I've seen some really bad teams come and go around here but this year's is the most dissappointing. We went from a return trip to the Super Bowl to being an also ran in a bad conference! Tough Year. Hopefully we'll be back kickin next year.

Peyton Manning is the quarterback on my fantasy team so I like him a lot but I especially like his commercials where he becomes the fan.

Well, I've been a 'Skins fan since I was 'bout 13 and playin' Falls Church Boys Club ball and out team was up in D.C. playin' and Sam Baker, the Redskins place kicker and Eddie LaBaron, the Redskins quarterback showed up at the game and signed everyone's pads....

Oh, that was such a great day... I was a wide reciever back then an' caught a touchdown pass with Sam Baker and Eddie LaBaron watchin'.... Also, while playin' linebacker in the same game looked down and there in the middle of the field was a silver dollar!!! I still have the silver dollar but the pads, ahhhhh, have gone off to that big pile of football pads in the sky.....

Been a 'Skins fan ever since... Even during my hiipiest of my hippie years, Sunday afternoon was 'Skins football... Antiwar rally??? I might be late to it... Start without me...

I think Dallas at Washington will be the "best" game this weekend. Games with rivalries always seem to be hard to predict.

Saturday, Dec. 17

Tampa Bay at New England 1:30 p.m.
Kansas City at N.Y. Giants 5:00 p.m.
Denver at Buffalo 8:30 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 18

Arizona at Houston 1:00 p.m.
Carolina at New Orleans (Baton Rouge, LA) 1:00 p.m.
N.Y. Jets at Miami 1:00 p.m.
Philadelphia at St. Louis 1:00 p.m
Pittsburgh at Minnesota 1:00 p.m.
San Diego at Indianapolis 1:00 p.m.
Seattle at Tennessee 1:00 p.m.
San Francisco at Jacksonville 1:00 p.m.
Cincinnati at Detroit 4:05 p.m.
Cleveland at Oakland 4:05 p.m.
Dallas at Washington 4:15 p.m.
Atlanta at Chicago 8:30 p.m.

Monday, Dec. 19

Green Bay at Baltimore 9:00 p.m.

But I was always on the wrong side when it came to the Bills.
They killed my percentage.

I've been a 'Skins fan since the days of Sam Baker and Eddie LeBaron (Doug Flutie-sized at best).....and Gene Brito, Dickie James, Joe Scudero and that bunch. 1957. Some bleak days as a football equivalent of the woeful Senators, but they weren't worthy of a Broadway Musical.

I don't particularly like their front office management any more than I do that of the Orioles (I might like the Nationals ownership, if they had any), but I knew them before the tradition o winning set by Allen and Gibbs that these people here bemoan, and I still begrudgingly pull for them.

I, too, see nothing to quite match the Colts this year from the NFC, so hope for a Colts-Pats rematch and a Manning Brothers shootout just for entertainment value.

Somehow, the vision of the Manning Brothers dressed in black Stetsons and black dusters, six-guns and shotguns in hand, strolling down a football field, is a bit distressing.

Well, the '72 Dolphins can pop the cork on another bottle of Champagne. The Colts gave it a good ride and 13 wins in one season is incredible.

Will anyone ever go undefeated in a 16 game season?

I'm a Pats fan and their defense is healthy once again. Look out Peyton, McGinest, Seymour, Wilfork, Colvin and company have sacks with your name on them! I'm hoping for a Patriots/Seahawks Superbowl, personally.

I agree, ranger1. The Pat's defense is getting back up to speed. Colvin was definitely back on the ball Saturday!!

However, the secondary is still not up to snuff. When a small rookie cornerback (Hobbs) is your top producer and Peyton, operating the best hurry-up offense ever seen, has weapons at nearly every eligible position, only the defense can win the game. The Chargers did just that yesterday. Masterful defensive coordiation by the coaching staff. Can the Pat's defense do the same thing? I would say yes, but, on any given day....

A prediction : Watch for Evans in the backfield when the Pats meet the Colts.... I have a hunch he will be a "secret weapon" in the first half, maybe even longer, resting Dillon, Faulk, and Pass as necessary.

The worst thing that could have happened to the rest of the NFL happened yesterday when the Colts lost. They can now put the undefeated thing behind them, relax and reload for the playoffs. the only hope that the rest of the NFL including the Patriots has is believing in the myth that Peyton can't win the big game or perhaps an injury or two. aside from that, we'll all be doing the same thing on February 5th, watching the commercials!

I wish we could get all the good commercials. Unfortunately, the Canadian broadcaster will cut many of them and we will end up watching the same Canadian Tire commercial umpteen times.

No doubt Peyton can win. As for the Pats, 14 injuries were listed last week and they still did okay.

A lot of football is psychology, and the Chargers beating the Colts in Indianapolis has put to rest the "undefeated" myth. And Belichick is a master at using psychlogy on the field.

A lot has been said about the New England defense and how it has come around the last three games. I'd like to remind the Pats fans that they have played against J.P. Losman, Brooks Bollinger and Chris Simms who are not now and may never be household names as far as QB's are concerned. The Pats secondary is suspect at best and I for one don't expect to see them in the Championship game, but if they make it that far, Manning will take em apart...IMHO.

ranger1 is correct. I suspect Bill will throw Evans and Pass at the Indy offense.... then Dillon and Faulk in the red zone. Having cut down the time that Peyton has the ball, the most dynamic defense ever to take the field (Iron Curtain don't count; I said dynamic - I am not foolish) will not be rattled by Peyton's, albeit, amazing prowess in hurry-up, but, rather, will throw it's usual myriad of looks and give it's secondary the break needed to thwart the aerial dominence of the Colts before it can establish itself.

Or not.

Can't wait. No matter what, it's gonna be one hell of a game.... 3 points? My money is on THE V!!

Gnu, that was a pretty dull game except for Flutie's drop-kick extra point. It was almost as good as Vinetieri's touchdown pass last year. It's always fun to see what rabbits Belichick pulls out of his hat.

As for the Skins/Bucs game, I will readily admit right here and now that my pick is probably wrong, judging from the score as of 10 minutes ago.
