                  "The Sinking of the Graf Spee" sung by Cyril Tawney, Seamen Bold,
                  (Neptune Tapes).  In Tawney, Grey Funnel Lines, he says this song has
                  been collected in Ulster, but probably never actually sung in the Royal Navy.

I learned the story from the movie The Battle of the River Plate (1956).

Battle of the River Plate, against the Graf Spee, was on 13 December 1939.

Admiral Graf Maximilian von Spee, after whom the ship was named, was defeated in the Battle of the Falkland Islands almost exactly 25 years earlier, on 08 December 1914.
