James III & VIII ("The Old Pretender") actually lands in Scotland to pursue the "15" on 12/22/1715. (Left again Feb 4, 1716) Thus providing some of the grist for one of Scottish folksong's most confusing songs and thus most enduring FAQs.

        Came ye o'er frae France?
        Came ye down by London?
        Saw ye Geordie Whelps,
        And his bonny woman?

                "Came Ye O'er Frae France"
[thanx James Prescott who went into this in considerable detail which I'd be happy to post if you're interested.]
