Teribus denies that the sun is hot:

What "outrageous and obvious lie" has been told?

Posted above. Vebatim. And with a link to the White House web page so you can't deny the authenticity (unless, perhaps, you'd think the White House might be filled with liars....).

Before you answer take a look at:

- What Saddam and his regime agreed to comply with at Safwan and what then transpired.

WTF does that have to do with the price of tea in Sri Lanka?

- The UN "niceties" that have to be observed.

Ditto last comment.

- Please cite the occasions between December 1998 and June 2002 when Iraq invited the return of the UNSCOM/UNMOVIC inspection teams and the resumption of supervision and verification of Iraq's disarmament in accordance with outstanding UN Security Council Resolutions.

Hate to have to point out the obvious to the disingenuous, but Dubya The Liar didn't say:

"[W]e gave [Saddam] a chance to allow the inspectors in between December 1998 and June 2002, and he wouldn't invite them in." So then, Senor Quixote, when you've decided you've finished your tilting at the windmills of your mind, and are now ready to joust on the plain of actual discussion of facts, maybe we can talk about how your apologetics for Dubya's f***ups makes Clinton's "depends on what the meaining of 'is' is" look like a model of clarity and forthrightness (not to mention, what Clinton said was in fact technically accurate and at least should have been helpful to his questioners, who were at least put on guard as to whether "was" or "is" may have been better suited to the question proffered).

Dubya said "he [Saddam] wouldn't let them [the inspectors] in". That is false. Saddam did let the inspectors in. No other way to put it, Teribus.

Cheers,

Why is it that Peace has never been bitten by a rattlesnake?

Who said "Earlier today I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors. While other countries also have weapons of mass destruction, Hussein is in a different category because he has used such weapons against his own people and against his neighbors."

What misery? Bobert said "life is Good"

Will you protect us Amos? How?

If Amos ruled the world
Every day would be the first day of spring
Every heart would have a new song to sing
And we sing of the joy every morning would bring

If Amos ruled the world
Every man would be as free as a bird
Every voice should be a voice to be heard
Take my word
We would treasure each day that occurred

My world would be a beautiful place,
Where we would weave such wonderful dreams
My world would wear a smile on its face
Like the man in the moon has when the moon beams

If Amos ruled the world
Every man would say the world was my friend
There'd be happiness that no man could end

No my friend
Not if Amos ruled the world.
Every head would be held up high
There'd be sunshine in everyone's sky
If the day ever dawned when I ruled the world

I expect that real soon people will begin to 'distance' themselves from the President. If the elections actually reflect the present 'will' of the American people as represented by the above poll results, Bush will become a brief footnoe on the world stage, the kinda "OOOPS, how did THAT ever happen mistake" that folks can hide away and deny association with: "No, son, I didn't vote for him. Don't actually know anyone who did."

Poll: Dems wanted

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

January 8, 2006

WASHINGTON - Dissatisfied with the nation's direction, Americans are leaning toward a change in which political party leads Congress, preferring that Democrats take control, an AP-Ipsos poll found. Democrats are favored over Republicans 49 percent to 36 percent.

In the Senate, 33 seats will be on the ballot in November, 17 of them Democratic, 15 Republican, and one Independent. Democrats need at least six seats to gain a majority. In the House, Democrats need to gain at least 15 seats to become the majority party.

So far, about a third of the public, 34 percent, approves of the job Congress is doing, while 63 percent disapprove.

Meanwhile, President George W. Bush's job approval is at 40 percent, with only one-third saying the country is headed in the right direction, according to the poll of 1,001 adults taken Jan. 3-5. The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points.

On the good ship, Lollypop . . . .

Of course, there's many more whoppers told by Dubya as well.

And then, there's just simple stoopidity:

I'm not exactly clear on whether it should be "Bush the Liar", "Bush the Clueless", or "Bush the Duplicitous"--for refusing to consider anything that might possibly contradict his pre-decided course--specifically in refusing to consider any evidence that might shake his determination to invade Iraq, while handing the US public information that did support his view.   (Information which he eventually had to admit was faulty--and which he could have questioned at the time, but chose not to do so).

But, after all, this is a delightful title for a thread--so let's give it a little more time.

good morning mr g guest,

part of the 1% of the gazillionaires live there ( also a lot of old money, thanks to king george). i understand that the 1 % supports our economy and appreciate that without it we'd be worse of as a capitalistic government. but having worked half my life with people who have nothing and no voice, i know there must be a better set up, but i'm not qualified nor knowledgable enough to know what that would be.

when public health systems became privatized around 15 years ago, our health system and health coverage became unattainable for half the population.

i also lived in boston. it's too stratified for me, though a paradise for thinkers. i had to live with 8 other people in an apartment. that doesn't include the cat-sized roaches.

by the way, g, excuse my impertinence; what is your occupation other than musician? i was a nurse practioner with a fat salary before i bailed out. the world is very different for those whose incomes are $70,000 and $20,000 +/- . i've made the awful adjustment but have no health insurance, had to sell my house and car and all of the antiques my ex-husband left me. i don't miss any of it. just hope i don't get too sick. if you're interested in the real scene taking place in hospitals and clinics let me know. i'm sure you're aware that it's documented that 100,000 people die by error or incompetence in hospitals annually. i can tell you from experience that those numbers are an understatemnt. blah, blah, blah.........don't get me started. i'm sorry about the tirade. think i'll go play the fiddle awhile and get my blood pressure down.

regards

madeleine

And altough I love the place, Canada would not be my first choice. Speaking of Canada, who would need more than what Britsh Columbia has to offer, with Vancouver as a base of operations. Scenery, dining, sking, fishing and the ferry rides to VC Island. Mesmerizing! Anyone here from VC?

Uh, Teribus--you continue the Bushite tradition of careful reading (not).

I never said that Iraq would separate into 3 states.

If you read what I did say, you may possibly see that I said this will likely happen IF THE SUNNIS DON'T FEEL THEY ARE PART OF ANY GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHED.

Any argument there?

At this point, we don't know the Sunnis' views on that question--and they may well hinge on the other groups' willingness to accept pro-Sunni amendments to the constitution, which we also don't know at this point.

Please try to read a little more carefully.

Unfortunately, Ron's analysis of the situation ignores some fairly significant pointers that indicate a future far different to the one he predicts.

The assumption is that Iraq will split into three independent states, so far there are no grounds whatsoever upon which to base that assumption. The insurgents in Iraq have consistantly failed to halt the political process or instigate "civil war". The reluctance of the majority of Iraqi's to follow the insurgent line indicates that there is a general realisation that the country is far better off if it remains intact.

The Sunni minority of Iraq and Iran have more to fear from the emergence of separate states - not the other way about.

'the reason we keep linking Al Qaeda Iraq and 9/11 is because there is a link' George W. Bush

and when Cheney (who said the insurgency was in its death throes last January) says 'we dont need a permission slip from the UN to go to war'
and gets applause from Republican audiences, no one mentions the logical conclusion of that statement, namely that 'other countries dont need one either'.

And that is exactly what a Russian General announced after last years Beslan massacre. That Russia reserves the right to attack terrorists anywhere in the world, with out warning or permission from the UN.

what it all really means is that we are moving back to the 19th century system of alliances, and might is right. We all know what this led to in 1914 and 45. Whatever you might say about the UN is it served its main purpose very well. Its only purpose was to prevent world war 3 and it did that very successfully for 60 years.
And George Bush's legacy may be in the end to destroy UN and the order that existed over the last half century or so.
and its not about terrorism, and its not even about oil. Its about a
power grab, to try to establish Pax Americana.
