The son of a friend of mine has just been visiting Shanghai. Whilst here he bought a guqing (pron guching) a seven stringed flat Chinese harp.

He is a guitar player and while he was here was getting some lesson for the guqiong, all the material he been given is in Chinese, he is not a Chinese speaker and reader. However we worked out the special characters that denote the note (by string number and point on the sound board) and which hand should be used and whether it is a forward or backward pluck.

But can anyone help with finding a publication in English on how the instrument is played?

Happy New Year to you All, gong xi fa cai.
