I know we have been here before, but not for a while I think.

Anyone have info on flight cases, in this case (sorry), for a Mandola?

Sources, prices that kind of thing?

A "mandola" can be several different things - here in the states a mandola is slightly longer than a mandolin. In the UK a mandola might be something a lot longer. What we would call an octave mandolin or Zouk. Reguardless - from what I've heard Carlton cases are some of the best around. Expensive - but worth it.

Thanks Wesley and a bit quick too.

Mine is a tenor, goes by the name of Nalson for obvious reasons.

I'm not sure where to find them in the UK but here in the states you can find a link to Carlton cases at www.gregboyd.com They are good folks - I bought my Weber Fern from them.

Here is where I got the case that protects my nyckelharpa when flying.

They are near Seattle, Washington, and are quite reasonable.
Tell them Laurel sent you!

Hi Les!

Kingham MTM Cases Ltd

in East London/Essex have just made an exact custom made-to-measure case, in the colours inside and out I specified, for my luthier-made tenor mandola which is a slightly less common shape than usual. Price was £249 for mine but they will give you an exact quote. That is somewhat cheaper than a Calton (which my mandolin lives in) or a Clark (better and heavier than the Calton) which houses my octave mandolin.

Hope this is some help as good mandola cases are as rare as parrots' teeth!

Peace

moo
