Under the category of 'What was I thinking?', I'm playing my new Kortier Irish 34 string acoustic-electric harp tomorrow morning with the church choir (New Year's Carol by Benjamin Britten)....after a late New Year's Eve night out at Hugh's Room with friends - a gourmet 5 course meal followed by a wacky energetic bloodmoving concert by Betty & the Bobs. I'm still not used to the new harp's string spacing, and the strings are flurocarbon not nylon like I'm used to, and the whole thing is powered by an amp of all things! Glorious sound, I must admit, but what WAS I thinking?
Egad.

Happy new year, and here's to the breaking in of all of our new instruments!!!!

Only 3 hours sleep, and a maxalt to stop a migraine in the nick of time!   We did it (my harp and I - and that great choir and conductor of ours)!!!

Such risk-taking, at the ripe old age of 51 - don't you just love it? We're back home sweet home now for brunch and a lovely long nap. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......

When I came in my old Pontiac out to San Diego, I didn't have room for all my instruments.   I just drove back after my holiday visit with most of the rest of my instruments--it's almost like having a big pile of brand new toys from the Music store! Sadly, I couldn't fit my Piano back there. They still filled up my entire back seat, & I even had a whistle & flute tucked into the sun visor pocket for those moments when I needed a break from the road. Oh, how I've missed them all.
Go right now, & dig out that instrument you've got stashed away K&/or haven't had the 'time' to practice, & get to playing!

Thanks Leadfingers. Nice to hear from you - how's the gang? I miss you all! Still regret that I hadn't stuck a harp in my suitcase on the trip. Not to mention my total inability to keep my eyes open beyond 9:59PM (Brit time). That wasn't very friendly of me was it.

Kaleea...what a wonderful story! I'd love to hear the list of instruments that did fit into the back seat. Darn that piano though. Consider a keyboard. I know there's nothing like an acoustic, but the travelability of decent keyboard is nothing to sneeze at. Have a blast, woman!
