Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Wedding songs From: GUEST,Zeph Date: 06 Jan 06 - 10:31 AM Referring to Joybell's comment about "Wild Mountain Thyme", I know that most people sing in the 3rd verse "If my true love he were gone, I would surely find another.." but this seems to go so obviously against the ethos of the song that I've always thought it should be "I would surely find NO other..". Any ideas about the original intention???apologies for straying off the thread |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Wedding songs From: Kaleea Date: 05 Jan 06 - 01:14 AM Yes! I frequently get requests for the Noel Stookey song-even from the young kids now! Then, there are the old standards=it never ceases to amaze me how many kids these days want the really old, moldy stuff like "Oh Promise Me" which I couldn't stand way back when I got crappily harried in 1972. There are also a few recent wedding album recordings which have become quite popular & are almost always mentioned by the couples when they come to me. Some have Classical Music & some include popular songs from the 70's to recent times. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Wedding songs From: Joybell Date: 04 Jan 06 - 12:48 AM I used to offer the following songs when I sang at weddings: The Rose (not at all sad but assumed by many to be) There'll Never be Anyone Else but You for Me - (Ricky Nelson song from the 60s.) Love is a Golden Ring Have I Told you Lately that I Love You. Dream. Devoted to You. Remember Me I'm the One Who Loves You. Always My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose Wild Mountain Thyme (with a few word changes in the verse about finding another if it doesn't work out.) All a bit dated but they still work for the right people. Cheers, Joy |
