Subject: RE: BS: How can we help make the Cat run better? From: number 6 Date: 04 Jan 06 - 07:44 PM What real reason do you need not to register ... if your shy, scared take your time before you post .... it's a shame why one has to be scared anyway, I noticed people here do accomdate and welcome new members .... and usually it's the GUESTs who exhibit malicious attacks. I also know of some forums where you have to register before posting .. and it works very well. I find this forum exceptional ... I also appreciate the different views and appreciate opposing arguments ... but eliminating the GUESTS would get rid of a lot of excess garbage posts and inhibit malicious attacks. I will admit I have posted under GUEST (I'm the Ghost of) and I'm sure a number of others here have also, let's face it it can be fun at times ... but I can see that in doing so you it can contribute to abuse and sinister deceit. sIx |
Subject: RE: BS: How can we help make the Cat run better? From: Amos Date: 04 Jan 06 - 07:42 PM Yeah; but I don't think anonymity, while it is the most irritating thing about guttersniping, is the cause of any woes. The individuals who forsake all manners, all etiquette and all courtesy in order to dramatize their mis-attributed angers are the core of the problem, and the steadiest long term answer I know to that is continued and steadfast courtesy and peer pressure. I am realizing that even though food fights in the lunch room are fun, they don't amuse the janitor, or the teachers, or the other students.... :D Grant me the grace to remember this under provocation, next time. Subject: RE: BS: How can we help make the Cat run better? From: Bill D Date: 04 Jan 06 - 07:27 PM not 'register'...but CHOOSE a name, even if you don't accept a cookie...no just 'plain' guests. There ARE reasons to allow posts by those who are new, scared, or who have real reasons for not using a registered name....I KNOW of a couple of forums where you can't post without adopting SOME name. |
Subject: RE: BS: How can we help make the Cat run better? From: Peace Date: 04 Jan 06 - 07:05 PM "Making it mandatory to register and having to 'sign in' to post. No more GUEST posting." Since that's been seconded, I will third it. |

Subject: RE: BS: How can we help make the Cat run better? From: Rapparee Date: 04 Jan 06 - 01:17 PM Which only means that he's an Intelligence. Personally, I think he's a minor subroutine, albeit a very intelligent one and his coder should be congratulated. I ran this statement: SELECT FROM clones WHERE lastname = "Offer" AND WHERE dna = "1" and got the response NULL SET RETURNED. Ergo, Joe Offer is a subroutine, not a flesh-and-blood person. |
Subject: RE: BS: How can we help make the Cat run better? From: Bill D Date: 04 Jan 06 - 12:58 PM Joe Offer passes the Turing test! I have tested him personally.... |

Subject: RE: BS: How can we help make the Cat run better? From: MMario Date: 04 Jan 06 - 12:50 PM I don't think the 'cat has become anthropomorphic to that extent yet. I might be wrong. After all, the vote is still out on whether or Not Joe Offer is just an AI sub-routine |
Subject: RE: BS: How can we help make the Cat run better? From: GUEST,G Date: 04 Jan 06 - 12:48 PM After reading a recent post of Dounels' and a couple others, what about the consideration of posts backed by fact, not feeling. Is it possible the the 'Cat' is ashamed of displaying those baseless posts and is reluctant to do so. thus slowing down the operation? |
Subject: RE: BS: How can we help make the Cat run better? From: Amos Date: 04 Jan 06 - 12:44 PM It requires money, and time, in the hands of Max and Jeff, I think. Subject: RE: BS: How can we help make the Cat run better? From: MMario Date: 04 Jan 06 - 12:43 PM MOney never hurts - If Max has *EVER* had so much as 50% of the annualoperating costs covered I would be very surprised (let alone his own time) |
