Does anyone know, or can anyone post the lyrics of this Australian song. Could they also advise on anyone who has recorded it.

Thanks

Anderson's Coast by John Warner

Recorded by John Warner & Margaret Walters on 'Pithead in the Fern', a fantastic song.

There is a good search facility within the Mudcat pages which would have pointed you in the right direction for the lyrics in the database, despite not knowing the correct title of the song.

Have a look around while you're here, you'll find all sorts of interesting stuff!

Danny Spooner has also recorded it, & we sang it tonight at John's place.

John is an occasional Mudcatter - Jack Halyard - & partner of JennyO who is a prolific Mudcatter!!

Gordon Bok has also led the song in concert and may be considering a recording.

I recorded it on my newly released MORE UNCOMMON SAILOR SONGS ( Click here for website
) but it really deserves the more robust treatment that Danny Spooner and John Warner can provide. Any it really needs a 12-string guitar rather than my lovely Stewart banjo for back-up.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Get the CD. John has a lot more gems on that, I love every song on it.

Great song. Still trying to develop some chords for it. It either takes two chords or twenty for me, I never play it the same way twice.
But still a great song.

The story behind the song has a reasonably happy ending in terms of the convicts actually receiving a pardon for rescuing a reconnaisance survey team but I like the song because it's utterly hopeless, and still has a great chorus!

Thanks for the information and for the correct title of the song.

Charlie, you should receive my order and payment for both CD's mentioned in the link you provided.

Thank you all once again for your help and assistance.

I had the great pleasure of having me ol' 'Auntie' Marg Walters sing it with me last time she was over in the UK....
Which prompts me to point out that dear MW returns here in '06 (with her new musical partner) and could use a few more dates!!
Them's as knows her might contact her and see what you can offer... Them's as don't know how to contact her, and have a venue
where you can gainfully employ her, why not contact me via my website given above (thanks for the nod Paul!) - email and phone
details on there - or PM me via this board and I'll put you in touch!
Cheers - Duncan McFarlane

Thanks, Guest, for your order for both Uncommon and More Uncommon Sailor Songs CD's. I can hardly wait to invest my profits in a suitable quanity of fermented fluid!

However, you should also consider purchasing everything you can get with John Warner's other recordings from this website: Click here!

John and Margaret are no longer singing together as a duo but they still cooperate with regard to sale of their CD's.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Thanks Sandra - I wrote my 'post' from 'home' at the weekend and hadn't the details there.
Now, in at work, I looked up MW and Danny's details to post them
- and you've done it already. Cheers!!
