Helen was a true gem, a wonderful person and one of my all time favorite women singers. She will always be missed.

Thanks, Abby, for remembering Helen. One small correction though: she died on Saturday, July 16 (not 17) 2005. Kathy

Happy Birthday!

According to Internet Movie Database Inc.,

political icon, Linda Lovelace,
the most famous porn star of all time,

was born as Linda Boreman

on January 10, 1949 in The Bronx
(She died 22 April 2002 from injuries from an auto accident.)

Amazingly, unlike most of the movie stars listed, IMDb lists "No headshot" of her.

I haven't found any folksongs about Lovelace but one extract seems appropriate:

        Anne Bolyn was also there,
            even tho she's dead,
She's terrific on her back, me boys,
            but better giving head!

                "Ball of Kirriemuir"

ALSO:
Helen Schneyer was born January 10th, 1920. She "retired" to Plainfield, Vermont about 1987 but still gigged to the end. (d7/17/2005 of lung cancer) [thanx Kath Westra]
