Subject: Lyr Req: Trying to find a song title for these... From: GUEST,Andy Date: 11 Jan 06 - 09:27 AM I am trying to find the title of a song and the artist for the following lyrics; "Vaya con dios, todo los amigos" This is a song from around the year 2000 or so (could be 1999 or 2001) the band was not very well known they are an English speaking band and this song was mostly English but this portion of the song was a break in the middle to end of the song where the broke into Spanish for a brief moment (there was kind of a staccato rhythm to with verbal emphasis kind of like this "VAYa CON dios TODos los AMIgos".), They were played in the Boston area on 92.5 WXRV (the River) which is kind of a mix/adult light rock kind of station. Someone please help me these lyrics have been running through my head for about 2 years and I cant remember any more of the song and in hours of searching I have come up with nothing. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Trying to find a song title for these From: katlaughing Date: 11 Jan 06 - 10:00 AM I wonder if it might be the son of Lalo Guerrero. His homepage is HERE. I don't know his music, so it may be a long shot, but if not him, perhaps he would know? Good luck, someone will know, I am sure. kat |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Trying to find a song title for these... From: Peace Date: 11 Jan 06 - 10:16 AM It scans with "The Plane Wreck of Los Gatos Canyon" (Deportees) by Woody Guthrie. Hope this doesn't confuse things. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Trying to find a song title for these... From: Peace Date: 11 Jan 06 - 10:18 AM PS I think it should read not "Vaya con dios, todo los amigos" but 'Vaya con dios, todoS los amigos". |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Trying to find a song title for these... From: Peace Date: 11 Jan 06 - 10:22 AM PPS If you have any other words or phrases at all, they would be very helpful. Both 'vaya con dios' and 'todos los amigos' are very common phrases (well, a clause and a phrase) in Spanish. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Trying to find a song title for these... From: GUEST,Andy Date: 11 Jan 06 - 10:43 AM I sent an Email to Mark Guerrero thanks for that info. and No it is not the Woody Guthrie song. It may very well be "Todos" not "Todo". And unfortunatly that is all I can remember and yes it is a very common phrase I have read through hundreds of web sites trying to find it. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Trying to find a song title for these... From: Sandy Paton Date: 13 Jan 06 - 12:12 AM Vaya Con Dios (song) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. "Vaya Con Dios" is a popular song It was written by Larry Russell, Inez James, and Buddy Pepper, and published in 1953. The most popular version of the song was recorded by Les Paul and Mary Ford. It was recorded for Capitol Records and issued as catalog number 2486. The song reached #1 on both the Cash Box and Billboard charts. In 1966, a recording was made of the song by The McGuire Sisters. I knew I remembered it as a popular song. I probably heard the Les Paul/Mary Ford version. Sandy |
Subject: ADDPOP: Vaya Con Dios From: Joe Offer Date: 13 Jan 06 - 01:42 AM You know, Sandy, the answer could be as simple as "Vaya Con Dios." I got these lyrics from Lyrics World. -Joe Offer- Woders and music by Larry Russell, Inez James, and Buddy Pepper, 1953 Vaya Con Dios (May God Be with You) as recorded by Les Paul & Mary Ford Now the hacienda's dark, the town is sleeping; Now the time has come to part, the time for weeping. Vaya con Dios my darling, May God be with you my love. Wherever you may be, I'll be beside you, Although you're many million dreams away. Each night I'll say a pray'r, a pray'r to guide you To hasten ev'ry lonely hour of ev'ry lonely day. Now the dawn is breaking through a gray tomorrow, But the memories we share are there to borrow. Vaya con Dios, my darling: May God be with you, my love, my love, May God be with you my love. Now the village mission bells are softly ringing, If you listen with your heart you'll hear them singing, Vaya con Dios my darling, May God be with you my love. Wherever you may be I'll be beside you, Although you're many million dreams away, Each night I'll say a pray'r, a pray'r to guide you To hasten ev'ry lonely hour of ev'ry lonely day. Now the dawn is breaking through a gray tomorrow, But the memories we share are there to borrow, Vaya con Dios, my darling! May God be with you, my love, my love, May God be with you my love. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Trying to find a song title for these... From: GUEST Date: 09 Nov 09 - 02:35 PM It's a song entitled "So it Goes" by Wes Cunningham. It's from his 1999 album entitled "12 Ways to Win People to Your Way of Thinking." I was just trying to find the lyrics for this song and typed in "Vaya con dios.." I didn't find the lyrics in my search, but your post here came up. Thought I'd answer it, (even though by now you've probably found the answer...) |
Subject: Lyr Add: SO IT GOES (Wes Cunningham) From: Jim Dixon Date: 10 Nov 09 - 10:00 PM I found lyrics at several places on the Internet, for example, here—but all copies had lots of errors. I corrected what I could, but I was able to hear the whole song only once, so there are several lines I'm not sure of. The song fits GUEST,Andy's description very well; the singer does put emphasis in some strange places, like the first syllable of "before" in line 3. Also, there are some gaps in the rhythm, which I have tried to indicate with dashes. "Vaya con dios, todos los amigos" is actually the first of several lines in Spanish, but my source didn't have them, and I couldn't transcribe them. SO IT GOES Wes Cunningham She broke down—when no one could see her, Broke down—on the side of the road, And she knew—like she'd always known before She could never be alone. It was late—when she knocked on his front door. His car—told her that he was home, But she knew—as she looked in the window, That he could never be alone. So it goes. When you know, you never know how much you know, But everybody knows. So it goes. All day she can't believe what he's kissing All my love in the morning she's missing The early call that she made Just to listen to his breath. Can't say where she'd be in an hour But maybe she'd be sleeping in the shower All the love ran away with the power Everybody knows. So it goes. He broke down—because he couldn't find her Broke down—on the side of the road And he knew—that he just had to see her So he drove to her parent's home Go away—go away; you're a loser. She's gone—she moved out on her own. But he knew—as he looked in her window, She could never be alone. So it goes. It's not over until it's over when it's over. Like everybody knows. So it goes. All day can't believe what she kissing All my love in the morning he's missing The early call that he made Just to listen to her breath. Can't say where he'd be in an hour But maybe he'd be sleeping in the shower All this love ran away with the power Everybody knows. So it goes. Vaya con dios, todos los amigos.... |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: So It Goes (Wes Cunningham) From: GUEST,Andy Date: 21 Jul 10 - 11:52 PM HOLY SHIT, I last came here in 2006 and failed to find the song. And I have been searching intermittently for all these years and have failed to find it. And here I am back to a post I made four years ago and someone has found it. I am listening to this song in the background right now, I had figured i would never hear it again. I don't know if the song is really as good as I think it is but it is probably my favorite song for now!. |
