Subject: obit Pat Elliott From: RoyH (Burl) Date: 11 Jan 06 - 09:35 AM I'm sad to report the death this morning of the grand singer and all-round fine lady Pat Elliott, of the famous UK North-Eastern family The Elliotts of Birtley. Pat fought hard against a number of illnesses including cancer without ever losing her feisty spirit and sense of humour, but had to succumb eventually. She will be sadly missed. Burl |

Subject: RE: obit Pat Elliott From: RichardP Date: 12 Jan 06 - 10:39 AM We only got to know Pat and the rest of the family, relatively recently when we started visiting the North-East regularly and were immediately made incredibly welcome at the club. Our thoughts are with the family and club at this sad time. Pat and Richard |
Subject: RE: obit Pat Elliott From: RiGGy Date: 12 Jan 06 - 08:39 PM Good bye, Pat. You'll be missed by all who knew you. One of my fondest Tyneside memories is the New Year's Eve I spent with you and Pete in Killingworth, 71-72. You put at least 20 of us up quite comfortably on ALL your floorspace after we could no longer stand. Laying there thru the early morning we couldn't stop singing, flat on our backs. Alec [Alex ? ] McKai in particular. The plumber had to be called at one point to fetch someone's false teeth out of the toilet S drain, as many of us had over indulged. I still can hear you singing "Jean at the Spinning Wheel" and "Twa Corbies" . . . Thank you for them and so many others. Riggy |
Subject: RE: obit Pat Elliott (Jan 2006) From: RoyH (Burl) Date: 13 Jan 06 - 04:09 PM Benny Graham sends me the information that Pat's funeral will be on Tuesday, 17 Jan, 2.20pm, at the Sunderland Crematorium, and afterwards at the Buffs Club, Birtley. I can't be be there in person but certainly will be in spirit. I have known Pat, Pete, and the other Elliott's for nigh on 40 years, and better folks you'd never find, anywhere. To be in their company or at their folk club was always a joy. I will never forget that when a singaround was held in the North East to mark my 70th birthday Pat Elliott, already seriously ill and wheelchair bound, came to see me, wished me the best, and sang and joked with everyone like the gallant trouper that she was. Goodbye dear Pat. Rest Well. Elaine and I will always remember you. |

Subject: RE: obit Pat Elliott (Jan 2006) From: Alio Date: 23 Jan 06 - 05:20 AM Only just seen this thread, and feel very sad. I first met Pat and some of her family at the Helmsley Song and Ale weekend a few years ago, and thought they were just wonderful. I loved listening to them sing and tell their stories. She'll be missed by so many people. Ali |

Subject: RE: obit Pat Elliott (Jan 2006) From: GUEST,Laura Elliott Date: 01 Feb 06 - 05:33 PM I am Pat Elliott's daughter, this is the first opportunity I have had to read all the messages in full. I want to say thanks to all of you for your messages and to all who were present at the funeral on the 17th. Both myself and my brothers want to pass on our thanks to all who sent cards and letters. Our dear mam Pat was always very special to all of us, and left a huge mark on all of our hearts, but it is fantastic to read about how much she and our Dad Pete touched the lives of others. Best wishes to you all Laura |
