Subject: 'For my next trick...'(El Greko)on radio From: George Papavgeris Date: 13 Jan 06 - 06:31 AM The new album, "For my next trick..." has been sent to reviewers and radio stations, and already on Monday Mick Peat aired one of the songs ("Glory gone") on Radio Derby's Folkwaves. This Saturday (14 Jan) Frank Hennessy will be playing two more tracks ("There will be dancing" and "Working week") on BBC Radio Wales' Celtic Heartbeat. You can listen again for a week on the internet by clicking on the link, or listen live (22:00 till 01:00 on Saturday night) either on the internet or over the airwaves. The album itself will only be released late March, so radio will be the only chance to hear any of the tracks for a couple of months (this is to allow time for reviews to appear as the album hits the shelves) - though one could of course pre-order it through the music shops (IRR061, distributed by Proper Music Distribution). In fact, pre-orders would be good for the album's reputation with Proper and increased availability in shops later. The list of collaborators on this album is bristling with Mudcatters: Anahata (treewind) and Mary Humphreys, Chris Green (duellingbouzoukis) and Jude Rees (moonunit) of Isambarde, Cloudstreet, Jonny Dyer (happyguitar) and Vicki Swan (smallpiper?), Cloudstreet... Also featuring Miranda Sykes on bass, Saskia Tomkins on fiddle, Chris Flegg on sax, Jeff Hinds on steel drum and Dan Waller on lekky guitar. Not everyone appearing on each track of course, but I am pleased to say that the sound is very rich and varied from track to track. Yet all this (or most of it) will be actually reproduced on stage for one night only at the album's launch concert on Monday 3rd April at the Travellers Studio theatre, Harrow Arts Centre, when the majority of the collaborators will be there. Tickets for that are already available through the Arts Centre, and soon also directly through me (at reduced rates for Mudcatters and those on my distribution list) - just as soon as I set up the "product" on Paypal. I will let you know when this is ready. For now - have a listen to Celtic Heartbeat this Saturday... |
