Subject: Radio Shropshire and George Papavgeris From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 15 Jan 06 - 03:45 PM I'm sitting here listening to Genevieve Tudor's great folk show on Radio Shropshire: http://www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/music/folk/index.shtml It's on every Sunday 8-10pm and it's on 'Listen Again' too. You have to press 'Listen Live' then select her show from the list. ANYWAY....Genevieve sounds to me as if she too is a Papavgeris Girlie! She sounded quite ecstatic about George...what a girl! ;0) And now...I'm sitting here listening to George singing 'Water Melon Seeds' from his new CD 'For My Next Trick' Oh heck...will someone please ring up that man from The Ministry of Parenting and get him to listen to this, and then to give it out to all the parents who've been made to attend the new Parenting Academy that Tony, Alistair and his pals have now decided that we need. THEN they MIGHT start to understand that what children simply need is loads of love, freedom, understanding and er...their childhood!...and not a National Curriculum for Babies and Toddlers! Anyway...you can hear Genevieve now yourselves...and George too! George Papavgeris for Prime Minister!!!! Lizzie :0) |

Subject: RE: Radio Shropshire and George Papavgeris From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 15 Jan 06 - 04:12 PM I didn't make it very clear above, that Genevieve was actually playing George's new CD...just in case you thought I'd managed to get hold of an early copy. Counting the weeks down to the release date though George! Loved the track I heard on Radio Derby's Folkwaves last Monday as well btw...'Glory Gone' For anyone who doesn't know about George's music, here is the link to his new CD...click on the titles for his lyrics, then go to 'Works' to read about his songs...all 160 of them! http://www.folk4all.net/Albums-FMNT.htm

Subject: RE: Radio Shropshire and George Papavgeris From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 15 Jan 06 - 04:51 PM Oh corks! I'm having a bad night tonight. Shouldn't be listening to Radio Shropshire at the same time as I'm typing. Just need to rectify something above. The lyrics for George's NEW cd aren't up yet, so no point clicking on at present, but I'm sure they'll be put up soon. But you can click on all the other CDs. Aplogies to all mudcatters on here who can work George's site with their eyes closed...but you never know who might be reading this! |

Subject: RE: Radio Shropshire and George Papavgeris From: breezy Date: 16 Jan 06 - 04:27 AM Steady on Lizzie, this is almost 'Papa-addiction' Last night George sang us W-Seeds as well as a couple of others inc the one about his his father. Like and endorse your comment on W S being a sound advice for parents, if only. George came to Ben Campbell's gig last night, and isnt he a gem too, with new songs ,great patter, yes the guys are performing again tonight but unfortunately in different venues, Ben At Herga and ond Georgie boy at Chesham. My favourite on the new album maybe 'You're the Biggest Part of Me' !!! but 'Anytown' is having a lot of impact and I think its George's flavour at the moment |

Subject: RE: Radio Shropshire and George Papavgeris From: GUEST,SteveP Date: 16 Jan 06 - 08:16 AM Sunday Folk appears to have vanished from the list of Listen Again shows. By the way Lizzie, the new CD from George was played all last week on theacousticstage.net, and rather good it is too. |

Subject: RE: Radio Shropshire and George Papavgeris From: Singing Referee Date: 20 Jan 06 - 06:54 PM I've listend to 3 tracks from El G's up-coming album today. I've heard him sing them before, but the arangements on the album are cracking! They're on the 'listen again' options of Radio Wales's Celtic Heartbeat and Radio Shropshire's Sunday Folk. They'll disappear after this weekend, so you've not ot long to listen to them. Here are direct links. Celtic Heartbeat at about 19 minutes and 2 hours 42 minutes Sunday Folk at about 29 minutes If you've the time both the whole shows are worth listening to however. |
