Subject: Tune Req: Where did TAB go? From: GUEST,Gayle Date: 19 Jan 06 - 11:26 PM My kids have been playing the fiddle for the last year. And I used to type in the name of the song and "tab". Just like the www promises I would get sights that would have a printable tab version of music. Does anyone know why there doesn't seem to be any sights for free printable music and if so Where? |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Where did TAB go? From: Joe Offer Date: 19 Jan 06 - 11:52 PM Hi, Gayle - for fiddle music, the best place I know of is JC's ABC tune finder (click). You can get the tunes in a number of formats, including notation in gif (graphic) or pdf (Adobe acrobat), that can be printed as sheet music. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Where did TAB go? From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 20 Jan 06 - 12:10 AM I don't know that "the www" (there is no such organisation; only people who want to sell you access to it) ever promised that everything would be free; after all, somebody has to put the stuff there in the first place, and there are only so many philanthropists out there who don't have to work for a living. There aren't that many suppliers of free food, either. Joe's advice is good. Some of the sites that used to provide "free tab" have gone because they were illegally publishing other people's copyright material. Others have found that they can only cover their expenses by charging for what they provide. Free is nice, but it isn't a basic human right; somebody is paying for it somewhere along the line. We are all lucky that so many people are prepared to devote so much of their own time, and money, to making things available for us at no cost or effort to ourselves. Time for all of us to think seriously, not so much about what we can get for nothing, but about what we can contribute to the pool of information that others have already given so much to. |
