Subject: RE: Upton Folk Festival From: Sue the Borderer Date: 08 Feb 06 - 05:56 PM Not pistols at dawn but "Sticks at sunrise"..... and no drums this year. Sue |
Subject: RE: Upton Folk Festival From: Mr Red Date: 07 Feb 06 - 08:02 AM no need to set alarm clocks for sunrise then ................. |
Subject: RE: Upton Folk Festival From: Sue the Borderer Date: 06 Feb 06 - 09:09 PM Hope you'll bring your kit and dance at Upton, then Rosie! I've just had permission from Richard Hannah for Herbaceous Border to dance at Upton again. Same as last year - each evening at 6 under the bridge and at sunrise on May morning (5.30am). Sue |
Subject: RE: Upton Folk Festival From: Selchie - (RH) Date: 06 Feb 06 - 09:32 AM I meant to say ~ isn't only a few individuals who have outdated objections to women dancing Morris? :-) Rosie |
Subject: RE: Upton Folk Festival From: Selchie - (RH) Date: 06 Feb 06 - 09:29 AM Silurian are a Ring side, they dance at Upton. All the Morris governing bodies co-operate with each other nowadays, don't they? And isn't it mainly individuals who object to the outdated idea of women dancing? The more the merrier, what ever their beliefs concerning Morris. Rosie |
Subject: RE: Upton Folk Festival From: Snuffy Date: 05 Feb 06 - 07:43 PM Yer don't gotta excuse the Ring men. As the sage (Popeye)says "I YAM WHAT I YAM" |
Subject: RE: Upton Folk Festival From: Mr Red Date: 05 Feb 06 - 02:18 PM I just heard that too - spread the word. Knowing who is on the committe I can't imagine a few Morris - just millions of Morrismen milling around as per usual. Banging their drums just a the two session per pub gets going but yer gotta excuse the youngsters - average age below 40 alledgedly - Morris Federation that is. Morris Ring - er not. |
Subject: RE: Upton Folk Festival From: Sue the Borderer Date: 05 Feb 06 - 01:42 PM YES!!!! Just heard that Upton Folk Festival will be on this year Apr 28 to 1st May 2006. No paid quests, concerts or marquees, but lots to do for those who want to sing, dance or play. Campsite is £10 a head - includes entry to everything. Non-campers would have to pay for the ceilidhs. Initial details are now on the website - see link in Snuffy's posting above. See lots of you there, I hope. Sue |
Subject: RE: Upton Folk Festival From: Snuffy Date: 23 Jan 06 - 08:57 AM Taken from Upton Festival website. Due to administrative problems we are unable to commit to holding the Festival yet this year - we hope to have a decision by the very latest at the end of January and will let everyone know through the web site, by email or letter if we have an address for you. Please contact the Box office by email to put your name on this circulation list I imagine that if the campsite is available then lots of people will turn up anyway, but at the moment uninformed whispers are speculating that any festival may end up as mainly (or purely) Morris. But we should know for definite within the next week or so. |
Subject: Upton Folk Festival 2006 From: Fidledidee Date: 23 Jan 06 - 08:25 AM Is it happening? I haven't seen any info on the web and am wondering if this wonderful little festival is taking place this year. Does anyone know? Is anyone going to turn up even if the official festival does not take place? |
