Subject: Dublin for the weekend From: Shanghaiceltic Date: 02 Feb 06 - 07:37 PM I am in the UK at the end of this month and I am thinking of heading to Dublin for the weekend of 3rd 4th and 5th March. Is anything on? and can anyone reccomend some good non tourist type pubs with live music? |

Subject: RE: Dublin for the weekend From: Shanghaiceltic Date: 03 Feb 06 - 02:14 AM Ah yes I do know that there is a bit of water separating it from the UK. But I have a spare weekend and am willing to travel. |

Subject: RE: Dublin for the weekend From: cyder_drinker Date: 03 Feb 06 - 05:26 AM Hughes' had a session every night of the week when I was in Dublin. Excellent venue. |
Subject: RE: Dublin for the weekend From: GUEST,HughM Date: 03 Feb 06 - 08:13 AM Unless you know what the Irish national anthem sounds like, don't sit right at the front of the audience. Otherwise you may find yourself in the embarrassing situation of having remained seated when everyone else has stood up! |
Subject: RE: Dublin for the weekend From: GUEST,pazbhan Date: 03 Feb 06 - 03:39 PM My recommendation would be the 'Cobblestones' on the 3rd March. Al O'Donnell is doing a gig there. |
Subject: RE: Dublin for the weekend From: An Pluiméir Ceolmhar Date: 03 Feb 06 - 04:34 PM Would strongly recommend Hughes's for an informal session. I've never been to the Cobblestone, but it is highly recommended by people whose advice I would trust - you're probably talking about a more formal setting if it's an Al O'Donnell gig. |
Subject: RE: Dublin for the weekend From: MartinRyan Date: 03 Feb 06 - 04:48 PM Cobblestone has gigs upstairs, sessions downstairs, usually. Regards |
Subject: RE: Dublin for the weekend From: GUEST,sorefingers Date: 03 Feb 06 - 06:45 PM Gee with Ryan Air these days giving away seats for the price of a few jars, everybody I know in the UK travels to Oirland at least once a month for few bevvies and the kip! |
