The earliest "Home, Dearie, Home, or "Amble Town" that I have is from 1888, published by Laura Alexandrine Smith, in her collection of sailors songs. She printed two versions, which were combined in the Ed Trickett version printed in the DT.

One of the versions published by Laura Alexandrine Smith in "A Collection of the Sailors' Chanties, or Working Songs of the Sea," printed in 1888, was this short one:

The lyrics I know are:

A sailor being weary, he bowed down his head
Called for a candle to light him to bed

There are lots of songs with "skipping up the rigging" instead of "walk the quarterdeck"
