Looking for words from Harold Rome's" Pins and Needles" particularly the song that begins "I learned about love from Rudy Valley, Dorothy Dix and Tin Pan Alley;" and also "Let me call to your attention What they all forgot to mention is you can't live on love."
In fact I'd love to have a resource for the songs from "Pins and Needles"

I found some interesting information about "Pins and Needles," for example, this from Answers.com:
Harold Rome (1908-1993): Pins and Needles. [1937] Rome had written his first Broadway score for this propagandistic union revue produced by the International Ladies Garment Workers' Union, which features a cast entirely made up of rank and file union members. For a time the revue would hold the record for the longest run for a Broadway musical (1,108 performances). Musical numbers such as "Sing Me a Song with Social Significance" and "It's Better with a Union Man" indicate the play's earnestness.
Also, Amazon.com has the cast recording from a 1962 revival. It lists the following songs:
    1. Sing Me a Song with Social Significance
    2. Doing the Reactionary
    3. One Big Union for Two
    4. It's Better with a Union Man
    5. Nobody Makes a Pass at Me
    6. I've Got The Nerve To Be In Love
    7. Not Cricket to Picket
    8. Back to Work
    9. Status Quo
    10. When I Grow Up (The G-Man Song)
    11. Chain Store Daisy
    12. Four Little Angels of Peace
    13. Sunday in the Park
    14. What Good Is Love
    15. Mene, Mene, Tekel

I didn't have any luck, 2feathers, but it may help you in searching to know that it's Rudy Vallee, not Valley.

The title of the song in question seems to be YOU CAN'T LIVE ON LOVE.

Lyrics were posted in the thread Lyr Req: You Can't Live on Love (Lewis Allan?).
