Anyone know where I can find the lyrics (in English) of some Komsomol songs and other Communist children's songs? There's a sovmusic site, but the text button doesn't work on the songs.

You could try to get hold of one of the older Woodcraft Folk song books. I remember one of them certainly having the song of the Komsomol in it.

If you'd like to do some real work on this project, a chance encounter turned up a site called, WBS Chat where a surprising number of young (mostly 20-ish) Chinese "students" appear to be seeking folk to help with practicing their English. (Most of them seem to need quite a bit of help, but they're proud of what they have.)

Several have given "their own web site" and email addresses. I'd suggest some caution about making "personal" contact before getting some assurance you know who you're dealing with; but posts on this "*mostly dead" site should be safe enough.

*They claim several thousand members, but seem to average about 6 to 10 posts per week.

Nothing like going to the source.(?)

John

Hmmm. Could do that, thanks! Though I might be able to edge up to some of the 40,000 Poles in Dublin and ask them for songs, now that I think of it.
