Necropsy results back...pancreas was basically gone....kidneys shot inside....no way anyone could have saved her...helps a little bit.

It is so hard to love so deeply and lose so many within a lifetime. Still, I wouldn't trade having my furry companions for anything- even the pain when they are sick or passed over.

Sorcha - so sorry not to have seen this until now - we are facing our own puppy crisis with an elderly pomeranian who just can't get enough food to stay down to maintain his weight, diagnosed friday with a recurring bone infection which the vet refuses to treat. So far he is still alert and happy most of the time but we know...

As she grew we laughed with mutual amusement,
she on two legs and we on all fours.
Born in July by March she was thigh high
She laughed at our music and we at hers.
So I try to remember that somewhere a puppy runs
because I can not erase
that last look of resignation
on our beloved Annie's face.

I've been thinking of you Sorch and I am so sorry...... but you and I aare dog lovers and both know you did the best and the right thing.....no anguish, just great memories. But it's so hard isn't it? Who was it said that dogs don't live long enough.....it's their only real fault? How true.

Your little one is happy & free of pain, & loved by all where she is! I lost my companion of 20 years 2 years ago. I still miss her at times. They are always with us-only a thought away.

OK...I'm a little better/calmer now....total renal failure, and no way could she have come back. I am sure we made the right decision. Did all anyone could. She recognized us, but didn't care.....just a pleading look. More info after the necropsy tomorrow. We'll have her cremated and bury her under the lilac bush in the back garden.
