On 2/22/1864 seven mutineers were hanged at Newgate Gaol.

       Great excitement through the nation this most sad affair has caused
       Sent across the briny ocean to be tried by English laws;
       Seven tried and there convicted, and sentenced each to hang-ed be,
       For the dreadful murders they committed while sailing on the raging sea. [Sept 10, 1863]

Roy Palmer's 'Oxford Book of Sea Songs' is now in a new edition 'Boxing the Compass' ISBN 0-9540682-0-3, Herron Publishing.

Although seven were convicted of mutiny and murder, two were reprieved. They had killed their captain and five others on board the 'Flowery Land'.
