was born 2/24/1930
(d. 3/31/2000)

Folk song collector & co-founder of Folk-Legacy Records
(their first recording, "Frank Proffitt, of Reese, North Carolina," was issued early in 1962.)

Says Sandy Paton: "He was a thoughtful, gentle man who devoted his life to the music he loved."

Seems he did a good job of it.
