Subject: RE: Bishop's Castle folk Weekend (UK) 2006 From: mandotim Date: 05 Mar 06 - 07:11 AM Hi Sal! Answer to your question, I think, is do what's best for you. On the other hand, you could try getting some help with the organising; maybe from people like Geoff and I who are not in BC, but are perfectly capable of making phone calls, doing publicity, arranging venues etc. Give us a shout if you think this is a way forward. We're having a story walk this year around BC which is being run by The Winged Word (local story spinners) it promises to be mysterious, scarey and exciting. And don't forget Mr.KD on the Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Sal |

Subject: RE: Bishop's Castle folk Weekend (UK) 2006 From: MBSLynne Date: 03 May 06 - 07:23 AM Well my daughter has now become thoroughly addicted to folk festivals and events and is complaining that nothing goes on around here. She really enjoyed herself at our local Mayday celebrations on Monday and is asking when the next thing will be on, so we may have to come to BC for her sake if nothing else. We intended to come last year but Shady had a dance exam on the Saturday so we didn't. I haven't looked at my diary yet but I'm hoping.....It sounds like our sort of festival. Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: Bishop's Castle folk Weekend (UK) 2006 From: the lemonade lady Date: 07 May 06 - 04:16 PM Camping will be £12 if you write to me now (pm me) or go to last years web site for my phone no and address. On the gate it'll be £15. The 3 Tuns has decided NOT to accept the music sessions so THE KING'S HEAD have come up trumps. New tenants have arrived there and are very keen indeed. Loads of space and want the music. Thank God! Down side is that there won't be a ceilidh because we can't find a venue for that. I'm so sorry that the 3 Tuns have decided this way, new tenants there also and haven't experienced the folk weekend so has no idea what he's going to be missing out on!!! Sal |
Subject: RE: Bishop's Castle folk Weekend (UK) 2006 From: Schantieman Date: 08 May 06 - 06:12 AM Not only is Shropshire a big county - it's the biggest landlocked county in England (I knew that book would come in useful someday). What better excuse can we think of for a shanty festival? But seriously, folks, there is actually a stream runnig behing the Six Bells barn, AND a pond up at the Wintles - so what are we waiting for? Haul away for Sally-o! Steve |
Subject: RE: Bishop's Castle folk Weekend (UK) June 9 2006 From: the lemonade lady Date: 08 May 06 - 07:05 PM Thanks for sharing your knowledge with the group Sir! Shall we all go up to the Wintles and sing around the pond, now that would really be fun. I'd love that! Tee hee Sal |

Subject: RE: Bishop's Castle folk Weekend (UK) June 9 2006 From: Schantieman Date: 10 May 06 - 05:36 AM There's a thought. Lots of railway songs - we could even go down to the old station & sing 'em. Subject: RE: Bishop's Castle folk Weekend (UK) June 9 2006 From: Peterr Date: 10 May 06 - 11:40 AM By coincidence I hope to be staying in BC on the night of Thursday 8th mainly as I thought I should try some other good beer on the way home to the Blue Anchor in Helston. I'm splashing out on a week's break, so can anyone suggest friendly pub or even hotel accommodation? Great shame I'll miss the event. |
Subject: RE: Bishop's Castle folk Weekend (UK) June 9 2006 From: GUEST Date: 10 May 06 - 03:08 PM Depends on your budget. The Castle Hotel is v nice & has good beer and food.
