Surely I am not the only person in this wide world who had a macabre granny singing horid lullabys - I am desperate to learn all the words/history of the ballad JANE McWILLIAMS.

Hi, Rois - Mudcat old-timers hate threads with titles like this. If you do a forum search for "desp," you'll find scads of threads with similar titles (although they often spell "desperate" wrong). I've taken the liberty of copying your request to a thread with a more specific title.
