Subject: Folklore: 'Celtic Realm' Nat'l Geo. Mag From: Janie Date: 05 Mar 06 - 09:08 AM This month's National Geographic Magazine has got a feature on modern Celtic culture that may be of interest. You have to have the magazine to read the entire article, but the website has some information as well as some links to celtic sites (click on 'Learn More' for links.) Here is the link for the National Geographic site on the subject. http://www7.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0603/feature3/index.html Janie |

Subject: RE: Folklore: 'Celtic Realm' Nat'l Geo. Mag From: greg stephens Date: 05 Mar 06 - 03:28 PM So, "spiral engraved standing stones" are an example of the old Celtic heritage are they? Hmmm. Well. Maybe this is the American school of Celtic Dolphin Chillout Massage tapes history. |
Subject: RE: Folklore: 'Celtic Realm' Nat'l Geo. Mag From: GUEST,Van Date: 06 Mar 06 - 09:17 AM Don't know what's with the naked chicks but I live in a Celtic country and haven't seen too many of them about. Just as well when you see what they are carrying - might set fire to my Celtic fringe. |
Subject: RE: Folklore: 'Celtic Realm' Nat'l Geo. Mag From: sian, west wales Date: 06 Mar 06 - 09:46 AM Well, actually spiral is an old recurring Celtic art image up to present day. Must see if NatGeog is available anywhere. Can't quite make out what the writer's point is on the website excerpt. siân |

Subject: RE: Folklore: 'Celtic Realm' Nat'l Geo. Mag From: Cluin Date: 08 Mar 06 - 03:55 PM Picked it up at the newsstand for the Celtic Fringe article, but I found the one on the story of human DNA spreading across the golbe much more interesting. National Geographic did a pretty good article on the Celts back in the late 70s when I had a subscription (before I ran out of room for the mags... could seem to bring myself to throw one away). It came with a fold-out map supplement that graced my wall in University res for a couple of years. |

Subject: RE: Folklore: 'Celtic Realm' Nat'l Geo. Mag From: Cluin Date: 08 Mar 06 - 05:22 PM The map. The naked chicks pictures came from another magazine. |
