Sadly, I'm working this week, so can't come tomorrow.
I say sadly 'cos I've got me new guitar at last.
Still, might see some of you at StAlbans tonight (Tues).
If not, see you on the 22nd.
Have fun. Oh, I think it's Berts Birfday soon...
Happy Birfday, Bert.

You were very quiet on Tuesday - are you getting old gracefully - Alans face was a picture - he looked like he was sitting next to a UXB

I'm still not sure about your Anderson's Coast - I still prefer Mick Pierces (wot no capo) version

It was an amusing and musical night, what with the dancing and percussion to top it all.

Thanks for the encouragement - and handy tips from ol' timers each week. We young learners always feel safe having a go at the Bull.

Steve - I am still laughung at the song you gave me - There are so many verses that I will do the first it fornightly stages. Dates to follow.

Friday 31st MARCH is the date for your diary if you like a good dance! The monthly ceilidh season continues at Hitchin Town Hall with arguably the UK's favourite dance band, PEEPING TOM, who continue to bridge the imaginary gap between the 'serious' traditional dancers and the more lively Ceilidh devotees. The band has a hectic schedule of appearances at dances and festivals all over the United Kingdom, and they will be celebrating thirty-five years of music making in 2007.

Peeping Tom is led by BEN WOODWARD (melodeon and guitar), supported by MATT JOHNSON (drums), JOHN McINTOSH (bass guitar), IAN WILSON (keyboards and cittern) and PETE SMALE (guitar and mandolin).

'… the Status Quo of ceilidh bands! Hugely popular…' Stirrings
'…The best dance band I have ever had the pleasure of dancing to…' Hugh Matthew, The Review
'…Driving ceilidh music… a model ceilidh band…' Colin Randall, Daily Telegraph
'…liable to leave you panting on the floor…' Dirty Linen, USA

Caller for the evening is the experienced MARTYN HARVEY. Martyn is one of the most popular and hard working callers in the UK, and he works regularly with some of this country's top Ceilidh Bands. We've enticed him down from his native Cumbria to enjoy his dynamic and compelling calling.

Our interval entertainment (to give you a breather and a chance to buy a pint or two from the Real Ale bar) are Shore Tars Rapper – five likely lads from Milton Keynes, with their fast and intricate sword dances, and most unlikey characters in support!

Doors open at 7.30 for an 8.00 pm start, with an 11.30 pm finish – a good night out, and not expensive (£7.50 adults and £4 children under 14). Tickets available at the door.
For more information call the organisers on 01582 724 261

The Guest on Sunday is one of the folkscene's foremost reviewers and critics.

His works in the literary field can be read on George Papavgeris''s web site

Plus the legendary Les Sullivan has indicated that he will be coming, so you can buy his CD 'Mingaly' as well. Many of Les's songs feature at most fetival song sessions and are perfomed by The Moses and The Ref.

Along with Flegg and El G it'll be an evening full of interesting songs and ego pricking

You ought to start a club with a proper guest once a month

Go on, grow, become a proper folk? club you have the foundation in a solid fan base.

Don't know - it's good fun at the moment

I'm not sure about proper folk - can't we just have a laugh, a drink and a sing song/play tunes down the pub

What does the fan base think?

Hi Ross

I'm with you - arn't there plenty of proper folk clubs.

I'm happy with improper folk.

Couldn't make it yesterday due to band practice. I also hadn't rehearsed some new stuff I wanted to do.

John P

Looking better able to attend next Weds just considedring what equipment to bring.

Looking forward to next Wednesday - open mic. session

We are a proper folk club. See 2 relevant articles in 'The Unicorn'.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. We have the biggest range of ages, music styles and experience in any folk club that I have ever been to. It thrives on its democratic and supportive flavour that underpins the success and enjoyment of all participants. Other folk clubs have their own uniqueness too.

Plus we would have to pay entrance, which would be rated at at least £30 if you judge on value for money basis.

That's what this fan base thinks.

Cheers Ross, it was great. If you go down the road of a real folk club, it will only bring you pain heart ache and an empty pocket. See you soon.

Keep the club as it is its great.I think Mr Breeze is a fat envious tosser and we should all be grateful he does not come to Barton with his loud and aggressive manner. That would reduce numbers for sure.
Your a nice man Ross and so is your club.

Just an opinion

Hello its a great following at Barton, the last "electric night" we had a pole dancer.

I missed the monday open mike night at the Greyhound in Dunstable.

I missed the tues night at the globe in Dunstable.

And the weeks hardly started!

Silverfish playing with himself wot next Daisy roots, by the way I enjoyed that slow song.
