Its a very good review. People can see him up at the Whitby week.

He and Gill rate very high from my point of view. I owe it to Mrs Sooz, for making me aware of them.

Tim, local? It's only as far from Grimsby to Gainsborough as it is from Gainsborough to Grimsby, and we manage the latter (and much, much further afield). :-)

Tim,

No, it's nowhere near the station (either of them) which doesn't matter as there are very few trains anyway!.

It's alternate Fridays with Market Rasen.

Ok guys I did say a local FC!
I have visited five or six other gatherings and enjoyed them immensley
it just seems to be the odd one that is a disapointment.
Gainsbro hhhhmmm heard of it I think is it in yorkshire?
He he.
I would love to go but I have a slight problem re every other week start work at midnight so trveling any distance is a bit of a pain
I suppose you gonna tell me its on a saturday so I have no excuse not to go?
I will ask Jen if she fancies going over to see you all in your natural environment,is it near the rail staion at all?
would be handy to go by train re getting back and having a few bevvies

Tim, your jaded view of folk-clubs suggests you've obviously never been to Gainsborough FC where 'Inclusivity' is our by-word (as well as a made-up word!) :-)
It's relaxed, laid-back, friendly, no-pressure-to-perform-sing-or-play-where-you're-sitting-so-no-scary-stand-up-at-the-front-and-make-a-pillock-of-yourself-stuff, and F**k Me, it's FREE!!
Join us some time mate?

I have progressed from virtually zero sound to a voice similar to a recording heard underwater of Barry White on a bad day singing with a peg on his nose ... is that progress?! :-)
Stop moaning Twangy...you know you do perfectly brilliantly on your own or with Mrs Twangy...(Hey Missus gotta give u a name of your own BTW! Woman Power and all that...)

Rude gesture to Twangy...yup...my fingers are unaffected by the lurgy....that self-same lurgy that some very kind people (no names mentioned) generously shared!!!!

Its never the typing fingers or texting thumbs that are affected have you noticed that?
Or did a woman ever say sorry I cant give an opinion on what you ought to do I am feeling a bit ill?
And the scowling muscle is always the last thing to go isnt it.
Even when they can only comunicate by blinking or feebly banging on the ceiling with a stick they can always summon up the strentgh to look disaproving.
But if you need em to do a harmony Kapow!!!
He he I thought she was brave to turn up at all we gave in and stayed home last friday concert.

A great night. I think the singaround went really well, no one taking ages to get started and it flew by. I thought it was a fair way to organise it, Sooz. Thanks for doing that.
Great to hear so many people and it was varied, too.
I really enjoyed the main act, too. I wish mello-cello could have made it cos she would have enjoyed hearing another cellist.
The format seemed to work really well, Les. It was good to have the singaround at the end and most managed to stay and listen in spite of it being quite late.

Was great night Les,I was a bit overwhelmed by the chance to play in such a tallented singaround.
It is great coming along and listening to the variety of performer you manage to get every fortnight mate but to actualy join in with them a bit is amazing.
What a clever way of arranging the order of performance as well.
It was well thought out(multi tasking woman at work) and everyone was ready.
None of the prima donna (HHHHHmmmmm kebab)stuff that you tend to get elsewhere.
I have always loved music of all kind especialy accoustic and "Folk"
But unfortunatly some folk clubs attract an audience that prefers to exclude people rather than to invite them in and encourage them to develop their skills and knowledge.
That is not the case at MRFC,and it is a real pleasure to come along get a freindly smile from Les(as he takes yer money)and be made to feel comfortable and welcome from day one.
I have attended another FC on and of(more off than on) for 30 years same old faces, only about ten or fifteen of them left now, still I think it was exclusivity that a lot of the failing clubs went for and thats unfortunatly a bit of a dead end road isnt it?

Sooz I don't think Tim said "GOOD looking guy" or do you know something we don't? LOL

There will be no holding Tim back anymore :-)

Thanks for the review Tim, much appreciated. The unaccompanied singers were BBP, Paul Lancaster and MoorlyMan (thanks for making such a long trip to grace MRFC). You didn't mention a couple of very nice ladies who supported your introduction namely Mrs Twangyclocker :-) and no other than Rockhen. Almost forgot Gill Redmond's hubby.

That has set the scene now for concerts. First the concert, then the singaround. Is everybody in agreement with that?

Tim, you have now obviously sussed out that you can't believe a word Les says! Either that or your powers of assessment on first meeting are abysmal. Nice meeting you anyway and now being able to put a face to the name. Well done with the performing too. Best wishes, Mike.

Glad you came out from behind the sofa Tim! You can't hide any more now.
BTW the very talented good looking guy was Paul Young - you missed him doing a 25 minute spot a couple of weeks ago, but he'll be back.
It was a privilege to see and hear Graham and Gill, they are nearly as reticent as Tim and don't come out of Dorset very often. What a pity they still only have one CD available.

I have now met traveling audience and Georgian Silver and they are not a bit like Les said!
In fact both seemed perfectly charming.
I have had a brilliant night out at Faldingworth yet again.

Graham Moore & Gill Redmond were absolutely brilliant.
They were well worth the trip out of town on their own.
But then there was the sing around and that was really excellent.
I have enjoyed the pleasure of listening to Jk,Stitherum, two wild wolds women,
A wild wolds woman and her hubby singing a couple of great songs.
Three unaccompanied singers, all of them good all of them different,,
a young looking guy who was breathtaking in his guitar technique and who then whipped out a fiddle and the bugger could play that as well.
Gill with her beautiful Cello,(What is it about lady celiists that is so attractive eh?)
and the great J.C. played fiddlers Green what a way too round of a great evening.
That is one of my all time favourite songs and have heard it done so many times by other performers and read so many versions in song books.
And I actualy was allowed to make my noise in this august company.
Thank you Les keep em coming mate.

What a great turnout to see G & G - for those who attended and are reading this thread, many thanks.

Glad you enjoyed it BBP. Its difficult to retain people, as some of them had work next morning, some had baby sitters, some who had to take the kids home (like my missus) and some who only came to see G & G. However, there were still a lot left at the end and in my opinion it went extremely well. Sue did a very good job of running it, so a big thanks there. I was impressed how quickly everyone got on with their song, allowing Sue to go round twice. The songs, tunes etc were great and I really enjoyed it all. He's a little darkhorse is our Twangy :-)

I was very impressed with Graham and Gill and thoroughly enjoyed there performance.

Hey cheers mate is abit new to me all this stuff.
So Mr Blanks is famous as well I seem to have met a lot of Radio and Tv personalities this last year.
Usualy at the Tap tis done by playing from where you sit, stand, lay or sleep!
In a clockor anti clockwise direction spinning the bottle is a tried and tested method,as is getting fed up waiting for some one else to start it of then Tyhree of you trying all at same time.
Helen has asked me if intend to have somehting she calls a pracice? before the night.
I do vaguely know what she means but when you sing like I do it so depressing .

The format will be spin a bottle and whoever it points at when it has stopped spinning, does a song.

Oh no, that used to be the way the Scots did it at their carry oot parties many years ago. They got to hear me sing at those parties LOL Mind you I was plastered at the time. Its the evil look they give you as an Englishman if you don't get up and sing.

So
Tim
When the concert is over, we will move the furniture round to suit the singaround. Format depends a lot on how many people want to sing/perform/recite etc. I suppose time will be the problem. I would imagine there will be about 90 minutes available for the singaround, and if everybody is ready for their turn!!!! :-). Once people have put their name on the list, we will have a better idea of the size of the animal.
I don't expect too many of the audience to disappear, unless I get up and sing.

Don't forget to listen tonight on Radio Lincolnshire 6:30 approx (details mentioned above) where Tom Lane will be interviewing Graham Moore and will also be playing a song from John Blanks new CD - not to be missed.

4 to go

Hey....BTW,I was working...not ignoring this! Spare me some sympathy...I think I deserve it after surviving the lovely tones of 20 beginner recorder players for an hour!

When I next speak to Graham, I will ask him. Maybe you have a club in mind who wants to book them.
Better still, you could do a telephone chat with him on your programme, and if he sends you his brilliant CD, you could play a few numbers.
Failing that, you could always come over here to sunny Lincolnshire on Saturday :-)

I know who the mystery guest is mate is better looking than her uncle Christy too.
Went to a very loud open mike in Market Hotel grimsby last night was very good Mr Rockhen was a bashing on the drums and did very well.
Is a great Idea they set up a full band of electric rock group type instruments and then any one that wants to have a go the gearis on hand and ready to go. Any bands that turn up are not allowed to play as bands so is all night Jamming session and suprisingly good results.
HEavy metal will be trad folk one day.

Alas and alack, I'm required by Mrs. Johnny to accompany her to the National Exhibition Centre, Brummagem, to arrive at or around 9 a.m. on Sunday so, still being somewhat infirm after my recent battle with the Ague (and thus insufficiently sound in wind and limb to withstand the rigours of both retiring late the previous night and arising early next morning), I shall be unable to grace either the concert or the singaround. Damn and blast my eyes!!

If anyone cares to take my part in the singaround, I would have sung 'Rolling Down To Old Maui' and 'Elvis Is Alive And Well'. Good luck! LOL!

Wonder who mystery person is I hope she hasnt got that bloomkin Christy Moore, again!
Bloody ride on seee you its ok but every BBQ she is at "this is me uncle Christy" and him all embarrased.
And he drinks like a fish no use opening a small bottle of anything near him.
Still suppose its better than the Bodrhan player she dragged along that time Jeezzzz dum di bloody diddly all night then there was the drumming.
Still might go down to the vets and see what pet has what desease, always get a cuppa there now they gave up on ringing the police.
