Subject: Sho Gan From: ML Ivey Date: 31 Jan 99 - 12:31 PM I have been trying to find out the name and origin of a song for some time and I was hoping someone here could help me. If you have ever seen the movie "Empire of the Sun", there is a scene in which the boy (Christian Bale) is watching the last of the Japanese pilots pepare to leave and he sings a song to them through the fence. This sparked an ongoing argument in my family as to what song it is he sings. Someone thought it was "Ca' the Ewes", but I know it is not that. I was later told that it was an Irish lullabye called "Sho Gan" (I'm not sure of the spelling) but from what I could understand of the lyrics it seems to be Welsh. Can anyone enlighten me on this? |

Subject: RE: Sho Gan From: Alice Date: 31 Jan 99 - 12:53 PM I should have mentioned that the link I put in the last message, 'Suo Gan lyrics' takes you to our longest discussion, with lyrics and link to a midi.
Here is another discussion of it, regarding songbooks with Suo Gan. alice |
