On a visit to England in the 60s Ira sang a couple of sings that I can find no trace of. One goes something like this:- 'Over and over I'll sing of his love for/to me. Over and over again'. Another went, 'If I think of a rose, He is more than a flower. If I think of a king. He is greater in power'. Any one know them I would be greatful. Sorry for any spelling and typing errors, this is due to the fact that I am partially sighted.
Thanks
Les

Your typing looks fine, to me, Les, no problem.:-)

I found this bit on a website which said they did not have permission to publish some lyrics of a different song of his. I thought the address might be helpful, if no one answers in the meantime, at the Mudcat:

Copyright 1950 Singspiration Music (Admin. by Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing, Inc., 741 Cool Springs Blvd., Franklin TN 37067)

I also found a CD available which ahs song titles and sound clips which might help you to identify the songs you remember: CLICK HERE and scroll down.

Hope this helps,

kat

Don't give up, Les - we may be able to find something. I have five volumes of the Country and Western Gospel Hymnal from Singspiration, plus a "Best of" volume. I think WYSISYG has the same. Trouble is, they don't index the hymnals by songwriter name. I tried "Over and Over" and "He is more than a flower," with no results - but I'll keep looking. If we can just find the titles of these hymns, I'll betcha we can find the tunes and lyrics. His "greatest hits" are Mansion Over The Hilltop", "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow", "Supper Time", "Room At The Cross For You."

Hmmmm. Sometimes, it can be interesting to track these publishers. According to this page, "Singspiration" was the music publishing arm of Zondervan, which I know mostly as a Bible publisher. Zondervan sold the Singspiration to Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing.
And so, the hunt continues..

Can anyone give me a story behind the lyrics of Stanphills "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow"? Desperately searching.

Thanks!

Folks, I have a friend who is looking for the words/music for an old song which was sung by Ira Stanphill....she thinks. Here is her info.

( I am pretty sure) It is "JESUS WILL COME"
Some of the words that I remember are:
1) Wouldn't it be wonderful to wake someday
Just inside those pearly gates and hear HIM say,
"Battles ore and work is done, no more to roam,
No more sorrow, no more tears, my child you're home
Safe inside the Shepards fold , all trials past,
Now to walk on streets of gold with Christ at last
This is not a dream tho' it may seem that way......
For Jesus is coming someday.

My email is tbichard@suddenlink.net. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
