Ok for the ultimate quandry for a new band....name suggestions...we are what I like to call a rock-n-roll blues band. We have 2 guitarist, a sax player, a female lead, (but I don't do lead on all the songs), 90% covers such as Pride and Joy, Feeling allright, crossroads, red house, etc. My last band with a simlar song list was shadowcasters...I loved that name, but I'm the only member remaining in this band of that band so nobody's real hip on that....my drummer, who's a little anal, picked azul monster and the rest of us are luk-warm on that as was a couple of other forumns I posted to.....anybody have any thoughts?

Baby Jump
The Small Roll Band
Equivox
Rythm'n'Grease
Skillet
32-20
3-Rooms
Uncle Red
White Boy Fuller
Minder
Contenter
Mars and Venus
Meathook
Roots
The F and M
Crossover
Studio Paul

Both Shadowcaster and Azul Monster suck bigtime.

The first one sounds like Cliff Richard meets Tolkein meets Fender, and the second sounds like new age hippy prog-rock.

Give us a clue on ethnicity and age-groups, gender apart from yourself: all play a part. I think there are some band-name-generator sites out there that may help, but the last two bands I know that used them got wishy-washy crap.

I have a LONG list of band names that I've/others have come up with, for various projects that have and haven't come together...

I'm keeping ALL of them

:-P

But... when you DO come up with one you think you like, google it... I'll wager there's already a band out there using it....   If not, then it's probably not as good an idea as you think it is.....

I wanted to call a band I started The Curbfeelers, but got voted down. It's yours if you want it.

Along the same line of thinking as Giok - just this morning after being passed by one of our local furnace vans, it struck me that 'Plumbing and Heating' is a good name for a band. Fans can always ask if they're curious about which one of you is which.

There are 2 names I have devised for musical projects which didn't work out.
One was a relatively recent but failed attempt to form a Folk Rock band to be called "The Beat Roots Band" you are welcome to that one should you wish to use it.
The second dates from the early Eighties when excessive Cannabis use led me to misread the zeitgeist to the degree that I decided the time was ripe for a Psychedelic revival.
I established a (short lived) embryonic group to participate in this.
I called that group "Purple Foxx" but I later found an alternative use for that particular name.

From vague memory both Oblivion and Spore have already been used by metal/death metal bands.

The advice above to do a google is sage.

However I think we have been taken in - it looks as if the OP has never come back, so was this thread genuine or not?

I still say Anna Valley and the Clatfords would be a great band name, but I suspect not for your kind of music.

It was a road sign near Salisbury, Wiltshire (UK) but when the local council replaced all the roadsigns, they left out the 'and'.

Blues, with little bits of rocks...

Obviously, I'd prefer the emphasis on the blues

How about "Not Just Another Blues Band"?

...Then all you gotta do is live up to it!

or "Paying Dues Til We Make It" if you're just starting out.

Open the telephone book to random pages in the business section until you see a name that appeals to you. Pick a name that can be altered to prevent legal hassles.

Have you thought of looking at an OS map and choosing a local name? I used to be in a folk group called Three Barrows Down - great name we thought, and also the name of a field (or 'down') opposite the pub where we started out - the barrows of course are pre-historic burial sites. Trouble is, there were 4 or even 5 of us, which used to confuse the audience - maybe that's why we folded!! So the Three Barrows are still there, but we ain't....

A band I was once in was nearly called The Big Cheese, which I still think is a great name. We couldn't use it, though, because the lead singer got paranoid because he thought we were referring to his ego!
