No... Nothing to do with Polydor. Roger and I started Dingle's in 1976. Not involved with any other company. Closed the business around 1992. Pressure of family life

Is this the Roger Holt who was once with Polydor?

'The man in the moon drinks claret' was reissued by MW Records in the 90s

And a final thought.
It's great that a simple enquiry on a message board, triggers memories, and makes one go and dig around in various boxes just to find that one album/track, whatever!
May the other Pyewackett albums see the light of day eventually.
(along with lots of other artists!)
Ralphie

Interesting. Mr Anglo.
If indeed Mark has a treasure trove of ancient stuff in his attic...sounds like a business opportunity to me!!
But, I've got my own copy pf the Pyes final outing already!!....Actually played it last night, and yes, it was as good as the day it was made!

I got my copy of "This Crazy Paradise" from Mark Emerson, whom I met when he was on tour with June Tabor - quite a while ago now. He allowed as how putting out a CD as the band folds might not have been the best economic move, and that he had an attic full of them. Maybe he still does. I gave him some money and he sent me one when he got home.

I'm glad to hear that my vague memory was wrong on this particular count.

Yes, a CD did appear, not a bootleg, but on the bands own "Familiar Records" label (FAM59) in 1986. Entitled "This Crazy Paradise.
As far as I know, none of the previous LPs ever made it to CD status, which is a shame.
Almost certainly out of print by now, (well it was 20 years ago, after all!) It was the bands Swansong, and still sounds fresh today.
Hope this helps
Regards Ralphie

One of Pyewackett's albums came out on CD a few years ago. I don't think it was a bootleg, so that might be a sign that the curse Bulmer didn't fall upon this label

Dave..Hope so, It would be interesting to know how they're doing, if nothing else!
If you track them down, please pass on my best!
Cheers Ralph Jordan.

Might as well keep both threads going then, in the hopes that they won't both drift to the bottom the heap!

Hi Ralphie,

I started this thread as another angle on trying to get in contact with Helen. From the replies to both threads it seems that there's a number of people who would like to conact Roger and Helen. I'm sure something will turn up, eventually!

Dave

Maybe a Joe Clone could combine this thread with the one looking for Roger and Helen Holt? (Dingles records was their label after all!)
Just a thought
Cheers Ralphie

Thanks Bonnie...You're too kind.
If I can the Bloody machine to transfer to a new medium for the Re Mix, I'll crack on with it!.
I also have half a dozen or so, songs from the 2nd incarnation of Crows when Dave Bordewey replaced John Burge.
They've never seen the light of day. Sadly, that is just a stereo mix, so no chance to re mix it. It's still interesting though to see how the band moved from its first to second incarnation.
And, getting back to Dingles. Seeing as how Roger Holt had the multitracks for our record, I wonder if he's got any more? As people have said, there was quite a big output from them during those years, maybe not as big as Leader/Trailer, but even so. Sounds like a project for my retirement!! Now, who's got this tape recorder!!!

Best Wishes Ralphie x

Ralphie probably won't say this, so I will: That Crows album is simply BRILLIANT. You have a treat in store, everyone...

Hi All.
Yes indeed, Dingles is no more. And I'm sure that Mr Bulmer didn't acquire any of the product. Certainly not the CROWS LP, which we managed to get the rights too! Oh and while I'm on, does anybody have a One Inch 16 track tape machine (Studer or equivalent) as I eventually want to re mix the master tapes, with a view to re releasing it!! Apart from the grotty reverbs, It's quite a nice listen!
Oh, and hello Bonnie!!

Cheers Ralphie

Hopfully someone will pick up the Dingles back catalogue as it has some fine music that deserves to be more widely heard.
Both Bonnie's albums with Packie Byrne are wonderful and I could also heartily recommend
Suzie Adams and Helen Watson - Songbird
Tim Laycock - Giant at Cerne
Pyewackett - Same

and that's to name but a few

Cheers
LL

Yes, I think LL is right, that Dingle's Records is a dead duck. I've never heard anything about Bulmer owning it, but if anyone finds out that he in fact does, do tell me (but please NOT at the end of one of those mega-saga Bulmer threads which are so long I've pretty much given up on following them). There's a song of mine, "Billy Reilley" on Roundtower which I legally retain the copyright to, through agreement with Roger Holt and buttressed by MCPC/PRS which I am a member of. But if he does own these LP's I need to be aware of it.

I don't know where Roger & Helen are either, but I'm pretty sure the company was formally wound up. John Heydon is the man to ask, as Kitty says.

Nope Dingles has finished. Dont think it's one that Dave Bulmer currently owns though. Seems to have just quietly gone to sleep like Plant Life

John Heydon will probably know, and may have contact info for Roger and Helen. Dave has PM'd me about this.

I have a feeling that Dingle was one of the defunct minor labels bought up by Dave Bulmer for his "private collection". Bonnie Shaljean will know; she recorded a couple of LPs with Packie Byrne for Dingle.
