In Riverton Mississippi,

one of the true greats, Delta bluesist

Son House
(Eddie James House, Jr.)

was born 3/21/1902
(d.10-19-1988)

Mars Hill, NC: Bascom Lamar Lunsford was born 3/21/1882 (d.9/4/1973)
In 1949 he sang for the Library of Congress Folklore Division for seven days running. He recorded nearly 350 folksongs and tunes. Not bad. He shows you superb artistry on the banjo can be wonderfully effective enhancement to the ballad – not just real fast 'plunk-a-plunk.' (Ask Greenhaus to play banjo sometime, you'll get some idea of it.)

Yes, Son House is da man... There's not a bluesman since who could honestly say they haven't beern influenced by Son House or someone who was influenced by Son House...
