I wrote a song with this little guy a few weeks back ... well OK, he didn;t have many lyrics to contribute, but his clapping hands and feet kept the rhthym going and his laughter made the lines rhyme and the humor roll!

This is one for the new Civil War collection:

Come Back Katy
Kevin, Benjamin and Brady
And the boys from Alabama
Know you're lookin for a mister
Better run and tell your sister
But don't you tell your mama
You know they look so fine
When they're marchin' in a line
And they dance even finer
Then the boys of Carolina
Come back Katy get your best dress on
The Bama boys in town

Come Back Katy
Kevin, Benjamin and Brady
Are the Alabama Wild Geese
They were born in Connemara
But they're leavin' town tomorrow
And they're gonna fight the Yankees
Gunna dance and sing
Make the whole town ring
Make a racket and a rattle
'fore we send 'em off to battle
Come back Katy get your best dress on
The Bama boys in town

Come Back Katy
Kevin, Benjamin and Brady
Siitin' out on my veranda
Sing the Shamrock and the Thistle
And they play it on the whsitle
To the fiddle and the banjer
Gonna make some noise
With the Alabama boys
Gonna dance 'til tomorrow
Like we never had a sorrow
Come back Katy get your best dress on
The Bama boys in town

Jed, this is a really sneaky way of flashing your grandkid's picture at us! I look forward to hearing the song. Looks like it's very trad-like and bouncey. Mini-Beef is awful cute, too!

He is a great looking lad, Jed; and the beard suits him!

You're looking good on it too.

LOL - yep, he a cutie. He'll be wlkaing before I know it - and I expect at the rate he's growing he'll be 16 before he's 10!

'tis a trad sounding, bouncey song, Jeri. You nailed it! It works. People like it right away - sort of a 19th century rap, with a melody!

;-)

We also have a granddaughter on the way. My wife and I had three sons - my brother had three sons - then Weston (the cute guy without the beard) came along - so when my wife told me my other son discovered that the baby he and wife were expecting was a girl; I said, "that's the best news I've had ... all my life!"

She and I will write different songs, though ...
