Subject: Country Life Parody
From: GUEST
Date: 26 Mar 06 - 03:26 PM

Looking for the lyrics to a parody of Copunty Life. I do remember the chorus which goes:

I hate to rise when the sun she rises
Early in the morning
I hate to hear those small birds singing
Merrily upon the laylan
And a pox on the life of a country boy
Who's allergic to the new mown hay

See previous discussions here, in particular:

Origins: Country Life (the trad. one!)
Lyr Req: I like to rise when the sun is shing

Someone usually posts the parody, or a link to it, whenever anybody mentions the song.

Also in the Digital Tradition with the mysterious title  COUNTRY BOY (2)

Not so much a parody, more of a translation

I can early increase the morning, if the sun increases it, and me can intend it

Small birds to sing joy amusement of.

Hurrah for the life of a national boy and too ramble in the new hay mown after their layland.

In spring, us sowing with the harvest let us mow and which is, as the round seasons they go.

But of all the marks I may be would be deviating by the new hay mown to choose you.

OH- Nancy is my homosexual and him soft flowers like the flowers each day.

But I like his the best in May, us by the new mown hay am deviating in winter.

If that grey of the sky we surround far our times with inherence and with a ditch, but the summer, if the sun seems homosexual, we go ramblin ' by the new mown hay.
