Yes, and a good enough Army Officer that he was asked to lecture at West Point before he got his music off the ground.

I remember seeing Kris Kristofferson playing at the huge Isle of Wight festival in 1971.He played witha countryish band and was excellent !Unfortunately he was booed by quite a big section of the crowd, mainly I think because he played a song called Blame It On The Stones which I think was seen as an attack on that band when it was a humourous and ironic attack on reactionary views!! I think also that country music in rock arenas was quite rare in those days and that also contributed to his less than warm welcome. Kris is a brilliant performer and also a fine actor and I would reccomend the Film Lone Star directed by John Sayles in which he plays a prominent role.

The Lady on "The Taker" was Joan Baez. Rita Coolidge did other vocals on the album.

Here Here I love Kris Kristofferson. I didn't realise he was on tour but that should've been obvious since he has a new album out. Miker.

My wife & I went to see Kris Kristofferson last night and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. He's not a great guitar or mouth harp player and doesn't have a great voice, but he's a great songwriter and entertainer. Ronnie Hawkins was in the audience and seemed to be having a great time. We came home and put on The Silver Tongued Devil album. We hadn't listened to it in years. I notice he has a woman singer doing back-up vocals on The Taker. The album notes list her as The Lady. Is this Joan Baez? It sounds like her. My wife thought it might be Rita, but I don't.
Also, was BLACK & BLUE written about Janis?
