This is a total and unashamed plug. We have now confirmed the date for the very last performance of Cornwall Songwriters 'Unsung Heroes ~ The Lost Gardeners of Heligan'. This will be in the Lost Gardens of Heligan on Sunday 27th August [Bank Holiday Sunday], probably at 7.30pm. It is going to be an incredible evening so if you want to get a ticket either pm me or Hawker for details or contact Heligan direct. The support we have had in the last 18 months that the show has run has been phenomenal and so many people have said they want to see it in Heligan that we thought we ought to give you fair warning!

And believe me, there is somnething VERY different about the show when it is performed at Heligan. Waltzing in the arms of dead gardeners, being tapped on the shoulder by unseen hands, a line of men who we all know are not there, at the back of the audience....... sorry, I do not mean to frighten you! It really is a heartwarming show and we felt the presence the whole cast had the honour of experiencing, was the gardeners way of saying that they approved of how we represented their story. If you haven't seen the show, don't miss it, if you have, and it was a year ago, it has changed a little.
This really is your last chance, we will NOT be doing it again.
If you cannot get to Heligan, we are at Dartmoor Folk Festival on August 12th and Chippenham Folk Festival over Late May Bank Holiday.
Finally, an unashamed plug for those of you who like pole dancing......
Of the May kind!!!
I will be teaching anyone who cares to have a go at Maypole dancing on Flora's Green at Heligan on May 1st from noon onwards. It is agreat fun event and of you canb tear yourselves away from Padstow, bet there
Cheers, Lucy

Oh no!! Can't come, Shrewsbury that weekend....

Must echo the words of Cats & Hawker, experiencing 'Unsung Heroes' at Heligan is very special indeed & I feel privileged to have been at one of the few performances there. So if there is ANY chance, do go and be there for this last performance & Enjoy!

I saw this at heligan and at Perranporth. It made me cry, it is just soo emotive. Catch it if you can. If you are at Cornwall Folk Festival that weekend pop over and see it. Well worth the travelling.

It was there 2 years ago and Wadebridge Town Hall was a sell out. We turned people away and there was standing room only in the hall. We always said the very last show would be at Heligan, just as the first one was.

Tickets aren't available just yet, I phoned Heligan on Friday.
They advised me to call back at the end of April, so no need to panic buy just yet. However, I am looking forward to it immensely.

Just to let you know that tickets are now available from Heligan and are selling fast. If you are coming down, phone them and reserve your ticket soonest. See you there.. or at Dartmoor Festival or at Torrington Arts Centre... then that's it... all over... all gone...Heligan is the very, very last.

For those of us who can not attend, but are just now discovering their cornish ancestry, can you give us more information about what this is about? mg

mg,
Unsung Heroes is a powerful musical documentary drama relating the true story of the fall and rise of Heligan, focusing on the men and women who made it. It is done in the style of the Radio Ballads of the 1950s.
The lost gardens of Heligan have a website that will tell you all about Heligan, but in precis, the gardeners who created this garden went away to WWI and few returned. The garden fell into disrepiar and was 'lost' until Tim Smit 'found it' and restored the gardens back to their former glory. A simple tale, but with a powerful message as relevant to man today as it was then.
The show is co written and performed by members of The Cornwall Songwriters, namely Mike O'Connor, Roger Bryant, Ron Openshaw, Jon Heslop, Tony Truscott and Lucy Burrow, with vocal support from Kathy Wallis and Kevin Burrow.
The Cornwall Songwriters have a website that will tell you all about them too.
Hope this helps.
Cheers, Lucy
